Hi, three characters ready, and three to go that I expect should be finished very soon.

Finally, I will run this game with six player characters, and run the other two I had considered originally as NPCs for now.

So we should be ready to start this week. Also, if it is OK with you, we can do some of the "game mechanics practice scenes" after the story has started.

I'm fine with this. Ready!

Finishing the final character. This weekend I did not have the time I thought I would to post the intro/practice scenes.

For now, I´ve included the gunfights and reference sheet in the Tutorial:

http://www.comunidadumbria.com/partida/justice-in-...

And also there is a scene called "Shooting Range" where I did a mock gunfight, just to get the hang of the system.

http://www.comunidadumbria.com/partida/justice-in-...

The idea is to do two different scenes to go through the mechanics, one for Jack, Mayer and Choctaw Lee and another scene for Hurd, Crowe and Sinta. These scenes would actually be part of the character history and would also count for gunfight experience.

I'll be totally out since August 1st to August 10th. I'll have no access to my laptop at all, neither internet access through my phone, so the masters' got my blessing to take any decission in my name or treat Mayer as a NPC.

Sorry if this causes any trouble.

I will be out from Wed 30th July till Wed 6th August. Apologies.

Sinta&Mayer, thanks for letting me know. It´s holiday time now in the summer for some lucky ones, not me though :) The game will carry on but I can make the necessary modifications so your characters are in the background or out of the scene for the days that you are away. I don´t think I need to NPC anyone at this stage.

Allright, Mayer is back to kick some mormon asses.

Welcome back Mayer! So we are all back up on the saddle except Crowe who is away until September 1st.

Due to some work-related stuff, it´s difficult for me to post some days this week, and I will be away this /long) weekend. I will try to post before Friday on both scenes before then.

OK, also the scene for Announcements / Latest News / Questions is an option if we want to keep Off Topic... off topic :)

Fair enough. :-)

Anything above 21+ is very close to the center of the Shot Clock, but it still has to be checked for precise location. (...) The exact location is important. For instance, if you aim for the forehead, a result of 21 could mean you just miss the target, or that you hit the neck instead.

But my point is anything on 21 or more is not "just close to the center", it is the center itself, is it not? Exactly like 25+...

Unless I am completely misreading the Shot Clock...

OK, I get your point now. The center is 25 but 20 is very close to the center. It turns out the areas closest to the center are not counted the same as the rest, that is, each line is not +1. It is not very clear with the ShotClock I am using here. This is because I needed a "transparent" version of Shot Clock to use with the silhouettes, and the original from the rulebook is a scanned copy and I could not make the background transparent on that one.

Anyways, let´s see if I can clarify this. The original Shot Clock:

Basically a result of 20 is three lines away from the center (which is 25), and 21 and 22 are the same (the next line), and then there is one more line for 23 (and 24). And 25 is the center.

On the Shot Clock I am using, the number 23 is missing, which makes this confusion. Good question though :)

From practical point of view, it is hard enough as it is to hit someone, so a result of 21+ on a 1d20 (+modifiers) is normally a good hit. 25+ is really difficult.

Oh, I see.

Now everything makes sense. Thanks.

I just found an errata for the rule book (I have the 1st edition), and there was an important piece of information missing from the gunfight section.

All head injuries cause double dice damage. Drop the +1, if a weapon has one. For example, if a hand axe deals d6+1 damage, it deals 2d6 to the victim's head.

This answers (in part) the question raised earlier about the benefits of aiming for the head. Also, as dice penetrate, it´s double the chance for a very high severity wound. From now on we will do it this way.

The "pre-production" gunfight practice scenes are almost over. These scenes are actually part of the story or background, and XP   BP/Fame/Reputation will be granted for these so you can see how the mechanics work. I´ve expanded the Tutorial to cover the Fame&Reputation rules. Also these scenes introduce the characters initial situation and some NPCs.

I will post a Prologue shortly. This will have the individual character history (from character creation) as a private post, so if you have anything to add to the background, speak up or forever hold your peace :)

All three scenes are now open, so the Act 1 of the story is unfolding. And the character sheets have been updated.

A quick reminder:

Goods and Services  if you wish to purchase or sell any items or gear

Casting for any clarifications/questions regarding skills or character sheet, and also to spend BPs to improve skills

The Poker Room if during any scene, or in the period in between scenes, someone wants to gamble their hard-earned money, this is the place to do it.

I'll be totally out since sunday 'till, at least, thursday, but it might take 'till friday. I've gotta go to Sevilla to do some exams, and I won't have any access to the internet. I'm sorry, and of course the master can take any decission in my name (and Mayers').
