-Ey, did you see that? I could swear I saw a few wannabe cowboys outside...
Hi everyone. I hope we have a good time together in the far west :)
Nice to meet ya.
Hi all,
So far so good, five players are in, and there is a sixth that has confirmed he will play but he needs to finish some real world (TM) stuff first this month. And the game has only been announced a few days. Six players was a minimum for what I have planned, so that is good news. Hopefully we get two more to make it eight.
Maybe we could be nine... You know, so people could call us "Ace&Eight" xD
Meh, just joking.
Greetings!
I was going to get a picture for my avatar, but I've found that I already had one :-)
But it was too dark. I lightened it a little bit...
so people could call us "Ace&Eight"
And who will be Eight? I knew a "Quinto" from Mexico lindo... xD
Ace and other eight cowboys. You know, just a silly joke with my name and the name of the system xD
Hello guys. I love Mayer's picture....
I hope that I can do it good because I'm learning english and this is one of the reasons why I've decided to do this.
Nice to meet you!

Yeah, I know, I was just making fun of the silly joke :-P
I love Mayer's picture....
He is like saying "Ein?" xD
Nice to meet you!
Nice to meet you too, Hurd
I'm learning english and this is one of the reasons why I've decided to do this
In my case the reason is to improve my writing ability. I read stuff in english for what appears to be an eternity (like 20 years), but I sweat blood writting down my ideas 'cause I usually have no reason to write in english...
-Let´s get some Red Eye for y´all! This round is on me...
I´m really looking forward to getting this game going.
Ah, each character gets a free choice of a shooting iron, equalizer, hogleg, persuader1... a gun!! As long as the cost is less than $20 that is.
So you can pick one from a selection of some very nice artillery: Colt Navy, Colt SAA "Peacemaker", Remington New Army and the Smith&Wesson Russian for instance. Just reading the name brings memories from different books hehe. There is more info in the Goods&Services scene with nice pictures, and also the cost for any other weapon.
You are welcome to name your shooting iron, just don´t call her Charlene :)
I'm also impatient to start the game!
Anyway, I'm working hard in real (and nowadays) life... I'm also doing the Final Project Degree... And more. I hope to answer and complete all requisites to have my character finished before this weekend.
PS: Hi Johny! Give me one! What are you waiting for?
I want a rifle badly, can I have one on behalf the free gun? 0:-)
I hope to work on the character's creation this afternoon. I hope...
I think you can buy it with your initial money (if it's enough) and also keep the free gun.
-Here´s that firewater, fellers!, the bartender yelled and filled five glasses to the rim, the other three were still empty waiting for new customers to walk in the saloon...
The starting money seemed a little scarce for a hand gun AND a rifle, and the standard gear. So everyone starts off with at least one basic gun. Rifles (the good ones) are a bit more expensive than the revolvers. If someone really wants to have a fancy Winchester or .44 Henry rifle but is missing some little starting money, I guess he can get the free gun and sell it back for some extra cash (for maybe half of the value).

Sounds right to me.
I was rambling with the excel document a little bit yesterday and I didn't get very far. Today I'll try again.
Don´t worry too much about the Excel sheet, it is mainly a tool for me to calculate the skill development costs which can be a bit confusing. And to keep track of BPs. Jack, start by rolling the Ability scores and we can continue from there, step by step.
The Aces&Spades system is geared towards "Profession Paths" more than traditional RPG professions. This means that the (random) Ability scores are simply an indicator of what things are easier or more difficult to learn, and you do not need a high score on a specific Ability to choose a specific profession. During gameplay, each character chooses a Profession Path for that session (or scene), and as you achieve goals on that path (and personal goals), you get BPs. You can change Profession Paths every scene if you wish.
I will explain this in more detail as more character sheets are finished, and we can do some intro stuff to get the idea of the system.
Yes, please ;).
Who did on earth think this system would be an easy one? :)
Character creation is not that complicated, just ask "Ace" Mayer hehe
But the initial random Ability rolls can be frustrating if all rolls are bad, or if there is too much to balance. There is a reason for this actually. The system looks for "generic" characters that can choose many different profession paths during gameplay. This makes it maybe more difficult to create a tailor made character.
The game mechanics for skill and Ability checks are easy. It´s the scrapes (shooting, brawling) that have their own mechanics that we need to practice. When playing tabletop, you have a nice "Shot Clock" template and a deck of cards... You actually aim exactly where you want to shoot and then see what happens. It is all very dynamic and fun, but a bit different from other systems. We´ll see soon.
