As a starting weapon, you may choose a revolver that has a value less than $20.

For instance, any of these four pieces of artillery:

Hurd entered into the shop. He looked around him and then, when his eyes found a guy that seemed to be the dealer, he waved him. - Hello Sir! I'm a farmer and I need a shotgun to protect my terrains. But I can only spend $20... What do you recommend? Because I don't want a small revolver... You know what I mean.

-Ah, a shotgun? They are bit more expensive than rifles, but do carry a mighty punch. Let´s see, we have the LC Smith two shot...

-For just $60 it´s are a real bargain, maybe you can ask Mr. Bronson for a small loan?

Notas de juego

You have $35 starting money, and $20 to spend on a weapon of your choice. If you want to buy the LC Shotgun, it would cost you $40, but it fits your story to owe some money to Mr. Bronson. So we can put it as debt. So you would still have $35 to spend or to pay off part of the debt.

...What the Hell!? $60.00!? Are we crazy!? Oh My Godness... Hurd was a little bit surprised. OK... Well. Mr.Bronson, isn't it? No problem... He tried to keep a straight face while he answer to the man. - Uh huh... maybe I can ask Mr. Bronson for a small loan. But I want this L. C. Smith shotgun... It's wonderful. - He said with the same tone that Luther Harris used. He look at the shotgun with brightly eyes. I will feel very comfortable with this shotgun...

OK the items you purchased in Thackersville have been added to the character sheets and these have been uploaded. I also used the "Equipment" section to list the equipment, for some reason it does not accept the price (the decimals) but still it´s better to keep the actual character sheet as simple as possible.

Jack, you already had a cowboy hat with a low crown. I guess you did not want to purchase a second one so I removed it from the list. Please roll Salesmanship to sell the Medical bag (it´s a Universal skill, and you get +40% to your roll). You can get $2 or 3$ with a successful roll.

I need to buy bullets but...

671 Cartridge .45-40 (100 rounds) $2,65
672 Cartridge .45-70 (100 rounds) $3,10
673 Cartridge .45-75 (100 rounds) $3,15
674 Cartridge .45-100 (100 rounds) $4,00

What's the difference? I mean what's means 45-40

What's the difference? I mean what's means 45-40

The .45-40, the "40" is for rifle bullets. The pistol cartridges have only the caliber value:

660 Cartridge .22 caliber pistol (100 rounds) $1,50
661 Cartridge .32 caliber pistol (100 rounds) $1,75
662 Cartridge .38 caliber pistol (100 rounds) $2,00
663 Cartridge .41 caliber pistol (100 rounds) $2,25
664 Cartridge .44 caliber pistol (100 rounds) $2,65
665 Cartridge .45 caliber pistol (100 rounds) $2,85

So your Bisley would be the .45, and 100 rounds cost $2,85. The caliber is the diameter of the bullet, in inches. So .45 means the bullet is 0.45 inches in diameter.

The cartridges with a number after the caliber are for rifles only. The second number actually refers to the gun powder charge of the bullet, which in turn changes the length. Obviously the rifle bullets are longer than those of a handgun.

-OK, here you are. The bullets for the revolver, $2.85. What about that rifle you are carrying?, the shopkeeper asked nervously. –It looks like a .44 Winchester Carbine, model 1863. I have a box of hundred bullets for that excellent weapon, for just $2.65.

-Here you are, Mr. Mayer, the shop keeper said and put the new hat on the desk. It was a black Stetson that felt soft to the touch, and it had a high crown with no creases. Nothing too fancy, but it was clearly not for ranch work either.

Then Harris opened the box with the boots delivered all the way from the East coast to a railhead, and from there to this small town of Sabbath. Harris delivered a sales speech: -Black leather, high quality footwear for the demanding man of today.

The boots were all black, but with floral motif carvings, silver mounts and steel spurs.

But Mayer could only see the price tag. Twenty dollars was a hefty price for a pair of boots, no matter how nice they looked. –No need to worry about that, the shop keeper said and took out the boots. –Size 10, just see if they fit. Mr. Decroux has taken care of the payment.

Hurd walked down one of the main streets of Fort Worth, looking at all those store signs. He wanted to get some supplies for the farm before leaving the town, but he was having a tough time deciding exactly what to buy. It was hard-earned money, not to be spent unwisely...

Notas de juego

I'd like to get me a gun and some farm supplies, but I suppose I should save some money for paying what I owe to Mr. Bronson (was it $40?) and for the land claiming (assuming I need to pay something for that... do I?). This would be my shopping list (let's see if I have enough money, if not I'll remove some items):

- Barbed wire (enough to fence the crops) $?

- Farming tools $?

- Corn and potato seeds $?

- Fertilizer $?

- A plow $? (I'd buy one or two oxen to pull it, but I don't think I can afford it... )

- A Peacemaker! (Colt SSA, .45) $18,75

- Gun belt + Holster, quick draw $2,00 + $2,50

- Cartridge .45 caliber pistol (100 rounds) $2,85

- Tobacco, smoking $0,15

- A nice dress for Laura $?

- A couple of newspapers or magazines, maybe a copy of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer if I can find it :) $?

Hurd visited a few stores, and was quickly attended when the storekeepers realized he had money in his pocket. He still owed $10 in Sabbath, but he now had money to spend on his future farm.

- Barbed wire (enough to fence the crops) $?

Barbed wire is sold in 100 lb bundles for $1.50. Three or four should be plenty. $6

- Farming tools $?

Hurd goes through all the different tools. He can borrow some from Vernon, but still he would like to be able to fix his own fence, the front porch, put some paint on the walls... And the farming tools. He considers: Awl (6c), Axe (60c), brush (paiting, 3 sizes, 84+32+4 cents=$1.20), chisel and file (29c), grindstone (with frame and crank) $2.25, hacksaw (75c), hammer (light 40c, sledge hammer $1.05), Pick 9c, hatchet (45c), a good hoe $2.45, knife 2 blades (25c), measuring tape 25c, 3 lbs of nails (9c), padlock 25c, paint (4 cans, $1), pliers (15c), plow ($9.75), saw (40c), wheelbarrow $3.50

Total: $25.23

Then, corn and potato seeds and fertilizers. He is offered a bundle for just $4.50 which sounds a very good deal. So far spent: $35.73 plus $10 for the debt, $45.73.

- A plow $? (I'd buy one or two oxen to pull it, but I don't think I can afford it... )

See above...An Ox is around $25

- A Peacemaker! (Colt SSA, .45) $18,75

OK, good choice. Plus ammo... $2.85 for 100 rounds .45 caliber. Do you want a gun belt ($2.00) and a holster also? Good good. Gun belt + Holster, quick draw $2,00 + $2,50, total $26.10.

- Tobacco, smoking $0,15

OK

- A nice dress for Laura $?

A nice and fancy dress is $7, nice light brown color and comes with a hat with an extra $2 an offer, for a total of $9.

- A couple of newspapers or magazines, maybe a copy of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer if I can find it :) $?

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, 2nd edition (published in 1876), for 70 cents. The storekeeper tells you he also has the second part of the popular novel, called "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", so when you finished reading the first you know where to buy it. 5 cents gives you a bunch of newspapers. Total 75c

Notas de juego

The rest of the money will go towards legal fees for the land registry, which would probably be a longer process. Legal fees can be around $30-40. Hurd and Laura have practically occupied an abandoned farm, and the land is theirs to claim so if Mr. Bronson supports their claim, they could get the land to their name.
