In 2074 contrary to their claims of seeking only to retake Alaska from the Reds, American Power Armor units, infantry, and mechanized divisions were deployed to China, but they became bogged down on the mainland, putting a further drain on American resources and supply lines. Now, in January 2075 a third launch of armor is being prepared.

Background

21 century America descended into an era of political paranoia and mania similar to the situation in the U.S. during the 1950s. The United States government became more and more militant and aggressive toward its enemies, both real and perceived. As the world's reserves of fossil fuels started to dry up and conversion of the existing fossil-fuel infrastructure to the recently-invented nuclear fusion power lagged, people in the United States and across the globe became desperate. The United Nations was disbanded in 2052 as the planet's natural resources finally dried up, causing many smaller nations to go financially bankrupt and fail. The European Commonwealth and the oil-producing states of the Middle East were cast into a long, drawn-out war over the few remaining productive oil fields.

In late 2053, the United States closed its borders when a new super plague was discovered to be running rampant through its population, and a terrorist nuclear weapon destroyed the Israeli city of Tel Aviv. In early 2054, the U.S. responded to the increasing likelihood of a nuclear war by initiating Project Safehouse. This project, financed by the sale of nearly worthless Treasury bonds from an increasingly destitute American government (inflation had become rampant as the economy worsened), was responsible for creating large underground survival shelters designed to withstand nuclear fallout or a viral pandemic, commonly known as the Vaults.

In 2060, the Middle Eastern oil fields finally ran dry, ending the European war. The European Commonwealth soon dissolved back into quarreling, bickering nation-states that resembled Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire, all of which were bent on controlling the last remaining fossil-fuel resources on Earth. In the winter of 2066, China invaded Alaska over what were most likely the last drops of oil on the planet. The U.S. responded with force, but it would be ten years before the conflict would finally end. In a desperate maneuver, both superpowers invaded neighboring countries in an effort to bolster their dwindling resources. The United States' annexation of Canada was concluded by late 2074. Canadian timber and petroleum provided the raw materials to support the needs of the American military.

Actual Play - Scene

2051

Seeking to protect business interests and their oil supply, the United States begins to exert increasing pressure on Mexico beginning in 2051. This cited the political instability and pollution stemming from Mexico as a threat to the United States. Various economic sanctions serve to destabilize Mexico, and the United States military entered Mexico to keep the oil refineries running and making sure oil and fuel continue to make their way north across the border at Mexico's expense.

The Resource Wars were a series of conflicts that began in April 2052 with the start of the war between the European Commonwealth and the Middle East.

2066----2075 (ongoing)
With conditions deteriorating between the United States and China, a military presence in Alaska was established to prevent a possible invasion across the Bering Strait. With increasingly scarce oil reserves, a last deep-sea deposit below the Pacific Ocean was claimed by China before allegedly being sabotaged by American special operatives. Strained relationships spiraled downward into conflict as China marched on Alaska, and the Sino-American War of 2066 erupted.
Under the command of General Jingwei, the Chinese Army usurped control of Alaska's oil pipeline and reserves and stationed themselves in the city of Anchorage. In response, the Americans initiated a series of sabotage operations to cripple the Chinese military strength and both belligerents began throwing men at each other in the trenches of Alaska.

With the inception of American mechanized Power Armor troops in the city of Shantou in the province of Quandong, on December 4th 2074, the retaliation begun.

The next step is to hit three targets along the Yangtze river: Three Gorges Dam, Nanjing and Shanghai.

INTEL report that 127th Light Mechanized Infantry Division of the 54th Army PLA is fortifying Nanjing in late December 2074.

The theater of "The Long River" will be played in three acts starting with act 1: The Dam under three veils.

En el 2074, al contrario a sus declaraciones de retomar Alaska de los Rojos, las unidades de American Power Armor, la infantería y las divisiones mecanizadas fueron desplegadas en China, quedaron estancadas en tierra firme, añadiendo otra pérdida de recursos y líneas de suministro americanas. Ahora, en enero de 2075, se está preparando un tercer lanzamiento de fuerzas blindadas.

 

Trasfondo

La América del siglo XXI decayó en una era de paranoia política y en la obsesión que asolaba Estados Unidos en la década de los 50. El gobierno de los Estados Unidos se volvió más militante y agresivo contra sus enemigos, tanto reales como potenciales. A medida que las reservas mundiales de combustibles fósiles comenzaron a secarse y la conversión de la existente infraestructura de combustibles fósiles a la recién inventada energía por fusión nuclear se retrasaba, la gente de Estados Unidos y de todo el planeta comenzó a desesperarse. Las Naciones Unidas se disolvieron en el 2052 conforme los recursos del planeta se secaron, causando que las naciones más pequeñas acabaran en bancarrota y quebraron. Juego Actual – Escena

Buscando proteger sus intereses comerciales y su suministro de petróleo, los Estados Unidos comienzan a ejercer presión sobre México a partir del 2051. Este mencionó la inestabilidad política y la contaminación derivada de México como una amenaza para los Estados Unidos. Varias sanciones económicas sirvieron para desestabilizar México, y el ejército de los Estados Unidos entraron en México para mantener las refinerías de petróleo en funcionamiento y asegurarse que el petróleo y la gasolina continuaban su camino hacia el norte de la frontera a expensas de México.

Las Guerras de los Recursos (The Resource Wars) fueron una serie de conflictos que empezaron en abril del 2054 con el comienzo de la guerra entre la Comunidad Europea y el Medio Oriente.

 

2066-2075 (en marcha)

Con condiciones de deterioro entre los Estados Unidos y Chuna, se estableció una presencia militar en Alaska para prevenir una posible invasión a través del estrecho de Bering. Con las reservas de petróleo cada vez más escasas, un último depósito en las aguas profundas del Océano Pacífico fue reivindicado por China antes de ser supuestamente saboteado por agentes especiales americanos. Las tensas relaciones cayeron en vertiginosamente en un conflicto mientras China marchaba hacia Alaska, y la guerra Sino-Americana estalló en 2066.

Bajo las órdenes del general Jingwei, la armada China usurpó el control de las tuberías de petróleo de Alaska y de sus reservas y se apostaron en la ciudad de Anchorage. En respuesta, los americanos iniciaron una serie de operaciones de sabotaje para paralizar la fuerza militar China y ambos beligerantes comenzaron a mandar hombres de un lado a otro de las trincheras de Alaska.

Con la disrupción de las tropas americanas mecanizadas en la ciudad de Shantou en la provincia de Quandong, el 4 de diciembre de 2074, la revancha comenzó.

I'd be in for a Fallout scenario, since we are playig in 2074 am I right to assume that this is taking place in the 3 years previous to the Great War?
