Mallory stepped outside. It was now or never, and the time was running out.

She headed towards the wall, and from there they would carry on until they reached their objective. As she walked, she did not want to look behind to avoid raising any suspicions. But she was trying to hear Jenkin's and Smith's footsteps followin her and Keiran. If things got ugly, the big boys with their big guns would be useful.

If things got ugly... She shivered.

As soon as Mallory stepped out from your hiding the rest of the team followed her. Surprisingly, Cozzette began to run, without giving any explanation,  toward the sentinels using the wider streets and attracting the atention of the 2 guards (the orange path marked in Jenkins' map).

In a blink of an eye one guard point his weapon and pushed her heading to the pyramid. You don't know if that was her intention, but only one guard is blocking your way.

There is smoke some meters of your location but it seems that the fire has been extinguished, no more shouts or people running trying to gather water. It seems that the guard hadn't seen you but he is half-concealed by the wall and the doors.

That stupid girl had done what he most feared. An official must be confident that his men will follow his orders, or all the plan can go to hell and let them in a dangerous position. He remembered a lesson from a pink hair commander at the academy. Her name was Holdo and she was fucking right.

He had expected that the girl could have talked to the guardians and get the oportunity to surprise them. But now they could not try to talk to the guardian or they will notice his accent.

Now they must solve the problem by themselves. He signed Mallory and Keiran to wait, and ordered Sam to move toward the guardian to knock out him. He prepared his fusil ready to fire if necesary.

Everything seemed to be working, the guard was relaxed, looking at the horizon and trying not to fall asleep. Suddenly, his face changed from boredom to suspicion whe he saw you. He stared at you trying to understand what was happening, who were those guys who were advancing toward him and then a spurt of intelligence crossed his eyes and shouted  

-Jaffa, Kree!!!

 He drew a serpent-shaped gun in a threatening way, ready to open fire to the invaders.

Sam followed Jenkins' orders and advanced using a tactical position in order to mantain the coverage and back Jenkins' position up.

As soon as the Jaffa shouted he opened fire without expecting the order from his superior. His life was in danger and there wasn't time for respect the chain of command.

He opened fire but he couldn't neutralize him.

- Move to the wall and take cover - shouted Hal to both civilians.

Then he rised his gun and shoot to the bettleguard. The sound would bring the attention of the other guards but he couldn't do nothing about that now.

Jenkins' accuracy was better than Smith's and the beetle guard fell down grabbing his bully, trying to keep his blood inside him and firing his weapon using his last breath of life. Fortunately, he missed but the energy blast fired from that strange was was quite close to hit on Keiran.

The path to the door was free of obstacles and enemies and you could heard the sound of a patrol coming from the north and trying to arrive at your position as soon as they can.

When you arrive to the door you could see something astonishing. Cozzette, that little girl, has stabbed multiple times the guard and was looking at you with a fierce smile.

"I was waiting for you... I thought that you didn't want to save your friends..."

The entrance to the pyramid was open and no one was guarding it. From the north a bettle guard patrol was returning to the pyramid to check what had happened. Time was running out

Mallory looked at Cozette with a mix of awe and fear. Trapped in the body of a little girl was the soul full of wisdom and maturity. And also she was capable of ruthless violence. The doctor smiled back at her, and shrugged her shoulders. -The boys wanted to play with their guns first...

She wanted to be in good terms with Cozette and maintain the special bond they shared. But at the same time, Mallory now had some doubts about this innocent looking girl.

The sounds of new beetle guards put the group in alert. -I think we need to block the entrance...

Hal had seen that before. Soldier boys that have been brain washed so they belive they are important, they are clever, and that they have the right to take out another's life. 

He nodded sadly looking in the eyes of Cozzete. War should be left to addult soldiers and children should be protected so they could play and enjoy childhood.

But now they had more urgent problems. The incoming patrol have notice them for sure, so trying to run alone by the city streets bringging their atention wasn't a good plan.

- Ok, Let's close the doors and block them. Sam go with Keiran, Mallory and that little girl and try to find our comrades. I will try to hold them here.

He ready his fusil and checked his bag looking for the hand grenades. They could be usefull if they break the door speccially in a corridor like that.

I looked around, waiting for Sam to lead the way. I was not a made for action. All the situation was going south, the team splitting, the chain of command broken, and Jenkins about to be left alone in danger. Not that I could help. Or that I want to risk my life, so I just decided to keep a low profile and follow orders. At least one of us should.

Cozzette chuckled gently when she heard Mallory talking about guys playing with their noisy toys, as if they were just kids, nothing to be considered for more than a minute in front of the wisdom of the gliics.

"You're so right Doctor Davis. I was afraid that your ´leader´ could take more wrong decisions but I'm happy than he is facing his fate, protect the gliics and fight bravely, like a warrior, and leave us the most difficult parts of the plan. We must go in, that door is not going to resist for a long time...Let's move!"

Jenkins closed and barred the door just in time. The arrival of the beetle guard was a few seconds after the closing of the door. The door was made of a thick wood and the soldiers banged at it heavily during some time and then they began to shoot using their beam weapons. The door barely resisted when Smith received the order to enter into the pyramid and recover their friends, trapped there in an unknown place.

Smith looked at jenkins and smiled fiercely at him. In the end his leader has shown what he was made of. He was not a brilliant orator and in his opinion he was still a newbie with a gun coming directly from West Point due to his father influences, but he was brave and he was ready to sacrifice his life to give them the chance to rescue their friends and if Sam could recognise something and respect that it was bravery.

He saluted his superior and told him "Yes, sir. On our way. Hold as much as you can. It they make a breach enter into the pyramid it will be easier to defend... Good luck, sir"

And then he shouted at the civilians, little girl included, in a bosy way

"Ok civilians, you're under my command. Prepare your guns and fire at everything moving different from me and you little girl" he said with a dark grim in his face "do shut your mouth. You're the fucking gliic, we know that, but now you are just a soldier, my soldier. Understood?. Enough of second guessing, Enough of complaining or you can discuss that with the beetle guard if it's more satisfactory for you..."

The team, except Jenkins who was securing the door, entered into the pyramid finding empty the beetleguard post guard. The interior of the pyramid wasn't made of stone but of a golden and strange metal full of strange hyeroglyphs impossible to decypher even for Keiran. From your position two corridors went left and right and it seemed that the pyramid was empty of guards.

Sam looked at Cozzette and talked to her authoritatively.

"Have you ever been here? Do you know where the God is?"

Cozzette wasn't used to be treated that way and after her wisdom she was just a little girl.

She pointed with her head to the right corridor. She was not used to be talked that way as the military were not used to be talked in that way by kids.

Her anger was evident but she was able to control herself in order not to waste the little possibilites of being succesful in the rescue.

Smith said quite rudely to the team "So, let's move, no personal invitations"

He advanced through the corridor adoping a tactical stance in order to reduce the chances of getting hit but amazingly, there weren't any resistance until the throne room was visible. The room was empty, almost empty, but Captain Latimer and Major Davis were there, on their knees, handcuffed and with signs of have been beaten brutally

"It smells rotten, it's a trap.... " Smith said when, suddenly, you could hear the sound of the wooden door, which was keeping outside the guard , been smashed and leaving unprotected Jenkins.

The soldiers banged the door noisily  for a while but the crossedbar resisted their attempts to breach into. Then, they began to shoot at the door using their weapons. The door was about of falling

Mallory grabbed the gun and followed Smith. She was not a soldier, but she was prepared to defend herself and the rest if necessary. Jenkins stayed behind to secure the door as the rest continued to the throne room. That is where they found Captain Latimer and Major Davis, handcuffed and beaten. Mallory wanted to run to them to attend their injuries, but Smith's words made her think twice.

-Yes, it could be a trap..., she replied. From the distance, she tried to get an idea of the medical conditions of the two prisoners. Then the sounds from the entrance made her think about Jenkins. -The lieutenant needs support, she said and looked at Smith.
