Khepri looked at you with a funny look. He began to chuckle at once and he looked at the three guards behind them before answering your request

"So, you have arrived the border of the field and returned here in less than an hour? There's no way that you have talked to anyone in the planet who knows the fate of your...our" he corrected himself "world. You're lying and you are a bad lier" He nodded brieftly and you felt the impact of a blunt object in your head. The impact was hard and your gaze tried to focus on your surroundings while the three guards put their masks off. That vision made Jenkins to throw out. Besides Khepri or Napoleon or whoever he was there were standing his team, Latimer, Davis and Smith and they were pointing at him with their staffs...

The only think he could remember before losing his consciousness was that Davis was talking to the radio asking Mallory and Keiran to take the arks with them back to Earth. Then everything turned black, black as his future....

They heard nothing from the other side. No one was answering their attempts to communicate but the door was open. No cavalry coming in their help, just a door open to somewhere else, just a leap of faith.

Will they cross it? Will they jump into the unknown?

The base was empty. An eerie silence only broken by the whirling sound of the Stargate. And no response from Earth. The beeps of the communication devices made Mallory more and more nervous about the fate of their planet.

-Is there some kind of communication robot or camera or something we can send from here to Earth?, she asked Keiran. She had seen the explorer robots, but usually they were sent from Earth to an alien planet. Not the opposite.

Keiran shrugged with a shy smile in his face.

"I'm afraid that I didn't pay much attention in the robotics course because I was sure that we'll have the help of Latimer... wish she were here. We can try to use one of the probes, It can't be very difficult, just moving the robot like and old coin-operated arcade. I don't know if it will provide us images but ....if we don't try we won't know..."

Keiran operaded clumsyly the probe from the nearbies of the monolith to the gate. He bumped into a tree a couple of times and he missed the ramp once but after some time he was able to send the robot through the gate. After 10 seconds the voice of general Hammond was perfectly audible. 

"Security squad. Ready to open fire at my mark. This is SG-21's probe but we can't prove that they have been the senders... At my mark, fire at will... Be ready, gentlemen"

Jenkins' tried to remain conscient but it was pretty hard. He could understand some of the things that were happening around him but he couldn't make the whole picture. It seemed that Latimer, Davis and Smith were now with Napoleon but it seemed pretty difficult. Sam was stubborn and he couldn't think in any way that he would change his loyalty voluntary, but indeed he has changed.

Jenkins's listened who Davis was trying to decive Keiran and Mallory about taking the ark with them back to Earth

"Mallory, Keiran, this is major Davis... We have fleed and we are trying to rescue Sam.We have discovered that the ark is in fact the cure for the virus, take it to the Earth. That's an order. We will assemble at the gate in 12 ours...."

The tone and voice was the same but the way he was smiling wasn't, something obscure and cruel laid under that smile.

-Hold your fire!, Mallory shouted as soon as she heard the voice of Major General Hammond. -I am Doctor Mallory Davis, and Keiran Byrne is with me. I repeat, hold your fire... please. Sir.

She sighed in relief¹. At least there was a reply from Earth. -We have a ... situation here. Some members of the team have been captured by ... a powerful enemy. Lieutenant Jenkins is helping local population to fight the enemy. What is the status there? Is everything ... under control... Sir? 

It seemed that SGC wasn't able to hear what was happening in P5X-984 because they didn't have any answer from their main base.

Hal was still stunned. He have been hit at the head but that wasn't the main reason. Seeing his companions working for Khepri was like a nightmare.

Then he listened telling Mallory to bring the ark to earth and he was now sure something bad will happen.

- I need to tell them this is a trap - he thought, but he didn't have the comunicator, perhaps he could try to advertice Mallory if David speak againg.

Hal looked at the faces of his companions but that wasn't the face of the men who have come with him by the stargate.

- Who are you? You can't be Sam, he will never join this crazy general. Why do you want to destroy Earth?

-I don't think they can hear us, Mallory stated. Quickly she ordered Keiran to try to bring the probe back. If successful, or if they had another probe, she thought they could write a message on it and take it through the Stargate.

So next time the probe crossed the gate, it was holding a white flag on one arm or extension (or taped to the back of the thing), and a piece of paper which read:

PLEASE DON'T SHOOT!

MESSAGE FROM DR DAVIS AND MR BYRNE AT THE BASE.

BASE OK. VIRUS UNDER CONTROL HERE.

JENKINS HELPING LOCAL POPULOUS. NEED ASSISTANCE.

HOW CAN WE OPEN A COMMUNICATION CHANNEL?

Keiran shrugged after hearing Mallory's idea

"I believe that the wormholes are just unidirectional. We can't bring that prove back but we have the first one...I think we could use that if we push it out from the jamming zone. Give me a hand, it must weight a lot...."

As soon as they entered in the jamming field their hand-held radios began to emit an unexpected voice, Major Davis' voice

"This is Major Davis, we have fleed from the city and we are under attack... we have discovered that the ark is in fact the cure for the virus. Take it to the SGC, you copy?"

Mallory shook her head. -I don't trust this message, Keiran. I would not risk taking the ark outside the force field. Not before contacting Earth.

The last message made Mallory think again about the message she wanted to send through the Stargate. She wrote on the paper:

PLEASE DON'T SHOOT!

MESSAGE FROM DR DAVIS AND MR BYRNE AT THE BASE.

BASE OK. VIRUS UNDER CONTROL HERE.

LOCATED POSSIBLE GENERAL CURE BUT POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS.

PLEASE INFORM REGARDING EARTH VIRUS STATUS.

JENKINS HELPING LOCAL POPULOUS. NEED ASSISTANCE.

HOW CAN WE OPEN A COMMUNICATION CHANNEL?

-Let's push this thing back to base.

Mallory pressed the sending button of her radio and you could hear clearly 

"-I don't trust this message, Keiran. I would not risk taking the ark outside the force field. Not before contacting Earth."

No further responses were heard from Mallory and Keiran and Khepri started to shout and crush things along his throne room. Your former companions were afraid of Khepri's wrath but you laughted out loud. It was the funniest thing that you have seen since now, an all mighty God defeated by a doctor and a bookrat. 

Unfortunately, Khepri wasn't in his best mood and ordered his men to hold you and then he chuckled with a smile that made you shiver. He extracted an ancient jar from a chest and put his hand into it revealing a Goau'ld. Then he began to talk with anger in his voice

"Your mates will come here for you and they will be defeated but you... you are not going to help them, you are going to be one of my men, one of my sons, You don't deserve this honor, you have shown your ignorance and lack of leadership but my son will erradicate your weaknesses, won't you my son?"

The Goau'ld screeched in a sign of agreement as they put it on your chest. You fought to take it over you but the combined strength of  your mates was too much for you. The alien jumped into your throat and the pain was incredible, blinding and it lasted for so long time that you felt that it lasted forever. Your will were attacked by the alien and you fought bravely not to lose the control of your body and soul but it was too much strong for you. Jenkins was history, there wasn't anything but Menpthora.

Both civilians pushed the probe far from the monolith and it began to work as a dream. It was a heavy peace of metal and putting into movement the caterpillars of the vehicle was exhausting.

Mallory wrote the message in a hurry while Keiran was moving the machine towards the door. After that, Mallory put the message in the arm of the robot and Keiran moved the robot clumsily into the door..

Nothing happened for two minutes, you just saw the blue whirlwind of the event horizon dancing around the gate, but then, when you have lost your faith the strong voice of General Hammond resounded in your radios

"SG-21, SG-21, SGC condition is controlled, report inmediately to the base, that's an order"

Mallory and Keiran walked through the portal, leaving P5X-984 for a long time, but that was unknown for them in that moment.
