Jenkins took the ark in his arms and while he was leaving the room he turned to talk to Smith. His face was expressionless but his voice betray him

"Smith, as soon as the civilians are safe I'm coming after you. Don't do anything stupid. That's an order. I'm not gonna left you behind"

Smith tried to be serious but he wasn't able to contain a warm smile

"I know, you're my officer... a good officer. The mission...follow the mission. I will resist"

You were escorted out of the town by the beetle guards. Silence were reigning all around and everybody was looking at you as if their last hope was vanishing in front of their eyes. There hadn't any complain or reproach, silence was the only feeling that they can offer the visitors beyond the stars.

They arrived to the gates of the city where 3 horses were waiting for them. They looked like strong and quick but they had barely time to arrive to the gate in time.

Keiran didn't jump to his horse looking at the ark with suspition

"I can't read the hyeroglyphs but....." He said hesitating before speaking "but... I think it has been too easy. I don't know if we can trust him and I don't know either if we can have the luxury of being doubtful. In 90 minutes SGC will explode... We need to decide if we are going to help this people or we are going to leave them under the rule of a tyrant. Do you remember Cozzette's stories about their God?"

He turned down his voice, almost whispering and said

"If we are wrong we can do more harm than good.... We can be responsible of the destruction of the SGC by action or omission"

Hal had been quite stunned for a long time after recovering from the explosion and he had been acting as an automata. But several things have been making circles inside his head although he wasn't able to focus on them.

- I don't trust him. Napoleon was a great general but he was also very cruel with defeated opponents even with the civilians. This thing could be a cure or a bomb that could destroy all Earth. If there could be a way to test it before send it through the Stargate. Perhaps we can contact Daegda again and ask for help.

Then something switched at his head. He had studied all great generals at the academy and some date didn't matched.

- I am not sure this is the Napoleon from our Earth. Daegda told us that Hepri had been imprisioned here for 600 years but Napoleon ruled over Europe only 200 years ago. In addition  the Earth's Stargate had been buried for thousands of years so he couldn't have used it to travel to earth. Perhaps Hepri took a familiar form to us so we trust him as Daedga did. I find even more important that before to know what is this thing before bring it to the Earth.

Mallory was a little bit surprised by Jenkins' comments. And she had to agree with some of what the Lieutenant was saying. -You're right, we should not trust him without questioning.

She thought about the years, but time could be different in different worlds.

-Regarding this ... thing, she said pointing at the box with hieroglyphs. -It could be dangerous for Earth. One thing: do we know where to find Cozette? She might have some clues as to what to expect or what to do. I remember she disappeared he time we entered the throne room.

Keiran hawked his throat to draw the attention. He had been really silent according to his standards and it seemed that he has something important to put into consideration

"The more I see this Ark, the more I think in other famous box in our mithology. There was a box that ,once open , it freed all the evils of the world: Pandora's box and I'm having that feeling that we're about to release something really bad. It has been to easy to be true,  he hasn't given us instructions to open the ark and Napoleon" He hesitated for a while before continuing "Napoleon was famous for his brilliant strategies, for being able to disguise his intentions and that was before being a God...If we sum up all that the locals has told us about him" he began to count using his fingers "he has been imprisoned for 600 hundred of their years and he has enslaved them for centuries. What does a God like him want? The only thing that comes to my mind is freedom..."

It seemed that he has ended his speech but he concluded with other option that could invalidate all that he has said before

"On the other hand, We can have in our hands the SGC salvation, we can be wasting our last chance...Major Davis would know what to do, but.... is your responsability Jenkins. If you ask me what to do I'd say to put this box as far as we can from home."

As soon as the guards left you with the horses Cozzete came from the blue looking at your horses and the direction that they were heading to. She looked at you with tears of anger and frustration and then using a broken tone she said

"Are you leaving? Are you going to leave us under his rule? You're not better than him...."

They were the tears of a young kid with her body spilt with the blood of the beetle guard that she has killed to protect you

Freedom... That made sense. The chained god wanted his freedom, and the arch could be a clever way to bypass the force field that imprisoned him.

When Cozette emerged from her hideout, Mallory remembered how her people were also struggling to be free once again. The doctor bent on one knee to speak to her face to face, and tried to calm her.

-We will not abandon you, she started and touched her shoulder. -But first we need to make sure our planet is safe. We do not trust Kepri any more than you do. Do you have any idea what this box could be? Or about the symbols? Maybe you know someone who does?

Then Mallory stood up, and looked at everyone. -I think we should ride fast to our base. On the way, we can hide the arch. It should not leave the force field. Then we can make contact with Earth and see how things are there. And prepare a plan to come back here to free our friends, including Cozette's people.

She mounted one of the horses the best she could. Time was running out, and she hoped the military guys would push everyone to go faster.

Hal was still thinking about his theory about Napoleon and a second option come to his mind. Perhaps that was the real Napoleon. At the end of the XVIII century Napoleon marched to Egipt with a group of cientist. It's know that they found the Roseta's stone but perhaps they found also the Stargate. Khepri could have come from it and took his body.  Napoleon started to be extremly cruel at that time, killing surrended enemies and risking his soldier lives without doubt.

The aparition of the girl stopped that thoughts. He looked at her with disgust. Her action alone had ruined their plan to sneak inside the temple, and now she come asking for resposabilities.

- We were only two soldiers and the plan was rescue our commarades, then return to our base and then discuss  with our leaders a way to help your people. But with your action now we have three men captured by Khepri. So stop action on your own and begin to respect adults as a good child. I don't matter if you are a gliic or a gllaac of your people for me you are only a little girl, and I will take care of you until I bring you back to your father even if I need to tied you to this horse until we arrive at the base. You can choose how do you want to return, but do it fast.

His plans was to return to the base and contact with Hammont. He expected the base doctors had been able to control the disease as he was now sure that the box wasn't the cure but a trap from Khepri.

- We will bring the box near to the base but leave it a hundred metters before the monolith. Then we will conctact the base and explain them the situation. Perhaps they could send some scientists with toys to analize the box. I have started to form a plan to rescue our friends but I need to talk with commander first and know what would do this box if it's opened.

Cozzette expression turned from sadness to anger and disappointment. Jenkins' comments about her childhood were something that she wasn't used to listen and according to the expression of the surrounding people they had been really offensive for them. She stared at Jenkins with a piercing gaze and then she looked at Mallory and Keiran sweetening her gesture

"Doctor Mallory, gliic of the Tau`ri you will be always welcome between us. Keiran, the gliic man, you will be also welcome."

Her voice tone raised showing a severity unfit for her age

"Jenkins, the man, the bad leader, king of fools, you have sealed the fate of your world trusting in the God. If I hadn't acted you would be dead, all of you. Are you trying to responsabilize us for your mistakes? Sam worths one hundred times more than you. He is a loyal warrior, brave, you're just a scared kid.... get out of my sight...."

She went in front of Mallory and hold her hands

"Good luck saving your people, I try to save mine... This is a farewell, long live and happiness Mallory"

And she ran toward her people in order to avoid Jenkins kidnapping

Keiran observed the scene totally astonished by the lack of tact shown by Jenkins. 

"That wasn't your best speech Lieutenant. What were you thinking in? The only people that could help us and you felt the need of disrespect one of their religious leader... Brilliant, better leave now. If you're not blind this people is not looking us friendly... and we don't have weapons... just brilliant, a brilliant Westpoint strategy"

He jumped over his horse and looked at Mallory ignoring on purpose Jenkins

"We are wasting time. I don't know if we will arrive in time but it worths a try"

He was going to be fired as soon as he arrive on earth for disrespecting the order chain and those military structures in case SGC wouldn't have exploded....

Mallory bit her tongue and simply looked at Jenkins with her eyes fuming with anger and frustration.

Shut up, Mallory. He is not worth it. He is just a lost little boy in a uniform wearing boots that are too big for him.

As Cozette ran away, she wiped a tear from the corner of her eye, and whispered. -Good luck, gliic. Best of luck, my friend.

She rode her horse towards the base without even looking at Jenkins. For his best, she hoped they would not need Cozette's wisdom and knowledge of this planet to save their own. She did not share the lieutenant's optimism about the scientists with toys being capable of solving the puzzle of the arch. It was alien technology created by a creature with god-like powers. In any case, it should not cross the force field.

Hal started to think he had exceed limits on his reprimand to Cozzette. The situation had complicated more everytime and he was used to dealing with soldiers and not with kid. The face of Mallory and Keiran convinced him  of his error. Perhaps he should have to try to explain the situation instead of expect the blind obbeyance of a soldier.

- As you have told me several times I am not a gliic, I am just a soldier. My gliic, Major Paul Davis, was captured by Khepri and I only wanted to rescue him. But over him on our world we have thousands of gliics.  I can take the decission about a rescue operation of a captured soldier, but not about starting a war or offering your people political asylum without the approval of General Hammont or the USA Presiedent. Earth population is 7.000 millions and I can't talk for all them.

Hal spoke all that speech slowly and mantaining a calm tone. He expected all that information was asimilated by the girl. After a pause he continued.

- Khepri have lots of armed guards and now we don't have even a weapon. If your people fight him or try to flee to the other side of the forcefield (if you can convince your people) Khepri will kill hundreds of your people on the confrontation. And even if you manage to flee outside the forcefield another of your people could bretray you as Tollen did. Khepri should be neutralized or we need to find you a new home outside this world.  So come with us to the stargate. We will check if our gliic at the base is ok. I will explain my plan to him and if I get his approbal I will come back to the city to rescue our comrades and free your people of Khepri.

Cozzette looked at Jenkins with a weak smile in her lips. She wasn't angry anymore, just sad because of the things they're going to come, the casualties their people were goint to face in order to achieve their freedom

"Jenkins of the Tau`ri. You are a bad leader but a good person. Try to safe your people while I'm trying to safe mine. I know that most of us can die today but further generations will remember this day as a glorious day for our people. We are not inprisoned, the wall doesn't affect us, we are free to leave the prison, the word is being spread right now, while we are talking. My people are ready and I going to lead them to their salvation. Farewell Tau`ries, may Daegda bless you and your people"

Cozzette ran toward the city with the determination that her actions were going to change their history. Something in her attitude remembered you another little French girl who saved their people in your planet, centuries ago, Joan d'Arc. You could heard that something was happening in the city, shouts, cries, something really important was about to occur.
