It was a really wild ride, one second before you were crossing the gate and one second after, or was it one hour?, you had arrived to a new planet. The feelings were as bad as Doctor Frasier has explained, you felt a extreme cold in your members and nauseas like if you had drunk 2 botles of tequila in 10 minutes.
Major Davis shouted some orders
"Latimer at 3 o'clock, Jenkins at 9 o'clock"
Major Davis ran to the MALP and use it to cover him. He remove the lock from his gun looking for potential threats.
Jenkins, roll a d100.
I went through the door and appeared on the other side with a strong feeling of dizziness that seemed to provoke vomiting. A voice that semmed to come from far far away sounds into the darkness that cover my eyes. I started to recover my vision slowly and looked at my surroundings.
I see that the voice came from Major Davis and he ordered me to cover at 9 o'clock. I prepare my gun and went to the that location.

When I went throught the ring I almost lost my balance but fortunately I'm stand up yet. I tried with all my guts not to
throw up. I kept watching my surroundings ready to fire any dangerous thing who dared to come close to our position.
In more than one time I tried to communicate with my comrates. But I was incapable to said any word. I walked, one step behind another to reach my position, and kept trying not to throw up and gave a chance to any enemy.
Your situation..
M represents the monolyth
1 and 2 the first and second MALP sended by the SGC
the blue circle is the stargate
and the other icon is the dial home device
You're located in some kind of quarry but the surroundings are quite green. The trees are some species related to pines and fir trees that have adapted to a tropical climate forming a really close forest. It's hot and humid, and you begin to sweat at once.
You are on the bottom of the quarry and you have a slopy ramp that could take you to a path leading out of the quarry. You can see rests of a strange blue mineral or gemstone on the floor.
When Sergeant Smith crossed the door Major Davis shouted him
"Smith, at 3 o'clock. Were you sleeping son?. Latimer check the viability of the dial home device."
He pressed his radio's button and said
"SGC, SGC, Major Davis Speaking. Please, stand by while we are checking the dial home device"
You're not sure but you think that you have seen a metallic shine, a golden shine to be more exact, on a tree more or less 2 km from your position at 10 o'clock from the stargate.
The shine lasts for 3 seconds and then disappears.
Captain Latimer ran towards the device to check if it was going to work. She pressed some glyphs and they shone with a dim light
"I think it's going to work but we are not going to know for sure until we shutdown the portal. The glyphs are pretty similar to the SGC ones, we need to find the origin glyph to dial home but I need help from Doctor Byrne"
Major Davis scanned as quickly as he can all the quarry from his defensive position. Everything seemed to be cleared. He shouted his orders.
"12 o'clock is clear. Jenkins, Smith. how are your sectors?"
I've seen a shine in the trees at 10 o'clock, Major. It seems like a golden metallic shine, sir. I'm not sure what could it be, but it lasts for 3 seconds, then disappeared.
I was sure that I had seen a shine, maybe from a weapon. And if there was a weapon, there was a creature holding it. I sharpened my eyesight so that I didn't miss a single detail in case the shine repeated again.
Major Davis pointed his weapon and stared looking for a strange movement in the tree tops. After a while he relaxed his attention and said
"It could be anything, a bird, an insect, some strange effect of the sun... we are offworld so the common explanations to the facts could not work here. We will check that direction when we have mounted the tented camp, but keep and eye just in case."
"Is it clear Smith?"
My side was more extensive than the Jenkis one. So I was a little late to answer the Mayor. - Now appears to be clear, but I didn't explore all the sector, Sir. I'm in my way. - I continue walking with the weapon ready. Looking at anything that can appear. Jenkins words didn't help to focus in my duties. Time to time I look back, trying to see the shine.

The forest is quite dense and it's difficult to see more than 200 meter away. You can't find any recent activity signal near the gate and its surroundings.
Major Davis told Sergeant Smith
"Keep your position Smith and your eyes open".
He talked to his VHF radio
"Everything is clear SGC. Send the FREDs with the equipment and the civilians"
The door shut down with a nosy pop. All the members of the team are free now for any side effect due to the stargate.
There is only one sun in the sky and the day is sunny but the ground is wet. According to your watches is 0900Zulu time and except the stargate and the monolith the only sign of civilization is the quarry and the path from the stargate to the top of the hill.
Major Davis looked at Mallory and Keiran with anger in his eyes and said
"We can't wait for you. I know that you don't have a perfect training and all this stuff is new for you but I need that you give me your best, is that understood Doctors?."
He sighed noisily and started to give his orders
"Latimer, check the dial home device and help Doctor byrne to dial home"
"Smith, Jenkins. I need a quick recon on the coordinates indicated by the Lieutenant. I don't want heroes, if you have a contact with hostiles don't open fire unless it's necessary to preserve your lives. Keep radio contact every 15 minutes."
"Doctor Davis. Please, unload the equipment from the FREDs and prepare your tent with your medical stuff"
Everyone looked at him waiting for more orders until he shouted
"Dammit. Move!!"
I moved quickly to my sector. I wanted to inspect that strange shine I looked before by the trees. When I arrived near the trees I slowed down my steps and started to investigate the surroundings.
I didn't risk myself for nothing so I walked very sloly, watching the ground for traps or something. I pulled out the tree branches as I moved through the woods. At the moment I didn't find anything strange.

All of this, smells weird for me. All these quiet. Something is wrong. I heard the Major words'. - Sir, maybe the gate isn't the best place to settle. Let Jenkins and me do the recon, with a bit of luck we find a better place near here. -
I said hoping an affirmative answer. In the meantime I go straight behind Jenkins open-eyed. With sneaky steps, and all of my sharpy sense, on.
Major Davis looked at Sergeant Smith with an undisguised impatience
"We are only preparing the medical tent just in case. Until we don't have established contact with the SGC we are not going to move anywhere. Latimer, Doctor Byrne had you found the origin glyph?"
Major Davis dismissed Jenkins and Smith and payed attention to cover the actitivies of the team near the gate.
It's quite strange but you could swear than when you have passed near the monolith you have had goosebumps and shiverings. The feeling is not very intense, and it could be a side effect of the travel.
On the other hand, the sounds of the forest are more clear than a few steps ago and the noise of your team has disappeared suddenly.
Smith is walking by your side and looking for any hostile contact in your way.
