I looked the man and then the girl lying on the ground.

Do you know what is this? You say this think shot... rays? Could you tell me, please, what is this and what is its use?

Without searching an answer about the rare monolith, it comes from the native of this planet. This man and his daughter know what was the giant monolith we found and we could get an answer about its procedence and meaning.

The man looked at Lieutenant Jenkins with a sad and tired look and nodded two or three times trying to understand what was Jenkins saying. After a while he smiled and said

"Look... this, OK". He bent and picked up a small rock throwing it next to the monolith, trying to trespass an invisible barrier.

Then he pointed Jenkins, Smith and himself and then to the hammer at the top of the monolith

"You, You, I... Ray. Death...... Medicine, please, Cozzette.. Where?"

I nodded. I understood the signs of the big man.

Smith. Go and find the doctor. The girl need help.

It's clear that the big man isn't going to trespass the invisible monolith line. Jenkis is right, we must to bring the doctor here. Carefully I trespass the line, and going to the Doctor tent. Watching arround to asure that no one was near. I raise the voice to call de doctor, what ever was the girl illness it's better to treat it as soon as posible. - Doctor Davis, We need you here!.

When Sam tried to pass through the invisible barrier of the monolith Jean Valjean jumped over him, trying to stop Smith

"No!!!... die!!!...la foudre vous tue!!!...Fou!!!"

Both men fell down and rolled turning over twice and going through the barrier. The face of the man was a mask of deep terror, but nothing happened. The device remained in calm and no lethal ray was thrown by it.

The man was visible confused and astonished and he passed his hand several times through the barrier

"ce n'est pas possible....Je l'ai vu.... il a tué une des gardes!!!" He looked at you and told you "Ray??, No ray??"

He ran and took the little girl in his arms and looked at your camp

"Doctor, Please"

I tried to calm him so he would follow me into the camp. There, the doctor could do her job and try to cure the girl. Also, we should establish some kind of defense. Maybe more bettle-headed enemies were out there looking for us.

Before Keiran could reply, shouting from outside the tent caught their attention. Dr. Davis recognized Sergeant Smith's voice and quickly ran out of the tent. She saw Smith, Jenkins and a large bearded man, but straight away her attention was focused on the girl. She seemed ill or injured.

-Careful, lay her on the ground here, she said. -Please step away, do not approach myself or Dr. Byrne, there is a possible risk of infection, she warned.

-What happened to her?, she asked and started looking for symptoms. Maybe these were similar to what she had been investigating.

When I saw the doctor a release feeling goes througth all my body, but this sensation was to short. Just when the doctor warning us to don't touch her or Byrne, my body became edgy again. - What do you mean with that? Are you ill? what the hell did you catch you and Byrne? - While all of this happen, like I use to stay, with a defensive stance, aiming with my weapon to any dangerous threat who could attack us an any moment.

-Her blood pressure is high, 16-10 and her heart rate is 110.

- She needs a blood transfusion

- You're almost sure that she is in a later stage of a Te-ebola infection.

- The beard man is also infected.

The man looked at the woman coming out of a tent and brought the little body of the girl and put her in the ground as she had asked

"Please, help. Cozzette... ill" 

He felt on his knees next to the girl and took her hand dearly. He caressed her hair softly while he sang a amooth lullaby in a strange tongue

Dr Keiran looked at Mallory seriously and told her..

"I have an alien infection and my body is trying to control it... Frankly doc, are we going to die in this remote planet?.. Do your job, I will have a look for incoming hostiles...it doesn't mind dying a bit sooner or later"

-Are you ill? what the hell did you catch you and Byrne?

Dr. Davis stared at Sam Smith for a moment before replying. -We call it E-Tebola or Te-Ebola¹, anyways, the important part is that this is a potentially deadly infection and it can spread easily. Both Keiran and myself have become infected, even thought he seems to be coping well. This young girl... She is in the final stages of E-Tebola, and she needs urgent medical attention.

She looked at the bearded man who apparently spoke French. -He is also infected. Do you know if any of you has been in contact with the Stone?

Whatever this thing was, she would fight it with everything she had. But the time was running out...

I stared at the situation for a while, not willing to make contact with any of the team members, of the girl. But then, that comment about the E-Tebola...

- What? - I froze for a second, there was no way to externalise all those feelings.

I muttered the rest of the sentence, realising it was not wise to make it aloud.

- Are we gonna die? Why did she think it would not be important to let me know?

I breathed deeply, again and again, trying to gather all the calmness I still had. A young girl was dying, and it was not my spotlight time. I walked towards the team, and address Mallory.

- Is there anything I can do? I don't want Smith or Jenkins to risk becoming infected.

Do you mean the huge man is infected too with whatever Keiran is? And which are the ways we can get infected too?

I hoped Doctor Mallory could tell us more information than we have now.

And how is supposed you can help the little girl if you can't approach her?

The things were getting worse every minute. I aren't a doctor I can't know what to do in that situation

She sighed and looked at the young girl. She would try to help the poor thing, but first she wanted to explain the situation t the other members of the team. -I know Keiran has been infected with E-Tebola. But his defenses have fought the bacteria, and I believe he is not in danger for now. However, even if he is not seriously ill, he can spread the disease to others. The best way to find out if anyone is infected is to do a blood test. Whatever this thing is, it is extremely contagious. Most likely aerial transmission.
