You arrive to the location where supposedly Lieutenant Jenkins had seen a shine. The zone in clear but you find a tree with scar marks in its bark. They look like the marks that could leave a tiger or leopard in a climb, but there are too deep to be catlike.

The wind changed their direction taking to you the sound the whisper of a river near your position and the aroma of something familiar. You are not sure but you could swear than someone is roasting a lamb in front of you. You pay more attention and between the trees you can distinguish a small wooden house by the river where a column of smoke reveals than someone is cooking his dinner.

When I saw the house in the middle of the clearing, I raised my right hand with my clenched fist, motioning for Smith to stop. I looked at him out of the corner of my eye and asked.

Should we investigate? We can not just leave it here and return without knowing who can live there.

I looked around to try to see if anyone was watching us in the forest.

The trip through the Stargate got me freezing cold. When I got to the other side, I started rubbing my arms, trying to get some warmth. I took a look around. Everything seemed quiet, although our military friends were still securing the perimeter. I moved to get a closer look of the dialling device. It took me a while, but finally I found the new symbol that was not present on earth.

- This one. - I pointed at symbol 32. - This one is not on the Earth device, so it has to be the origin. What do you think, Latimer?

The smell give me hungry. But years of military training keep my mind focus. The Jekin's words seems ok to me. I nod him and with sneak walk I take cover behind a tree. Gaining a position near the house and with good line of sight. With the gun ready I make a signal to Jenkins, telling him that It's clear and I'm ready to cover fire him.

Traing to be like a whisper, I push the walkie button, and say: "Mayor, We found a little shelter in the woods, Jenkins and I are gonna scout it"

Sergeant Smith didn't receive an acknowledge message from the walkie... only some static noise. The message was received in Jenkin's device but nobody of the team copied your message.
 

Noone answer to Smith and I tried my device.

Major? Answer Major ¡over!

The device didn't transmit any answer for the base camp.

It seems nobody answer. Maybe some electromagnetic interference. Well, it's up to us. Shall we investigate the shelter or return to base and wait orders? I vote for investigate it.
 

Jenkins didn't have better luck trying to communicate with the base camp. Some kind of communication jamming was in course or.... the base camp had been attacked while you were out.

You haven't heard sounds of gunfire or battle from your position.

At first, I would prefer to investigate de shelter, but it wouldn´t be a really good idea. We're not in a advantaged position to make a first contact with nobody. We should better return to base and inform Major Davis. Also he must know that something is blocking the communications inside the forest.

With a movement of the arm I informed Smith to step back to the base camp.

When you were about to leave a man left the house. The man was tall and strong but he was bad nourished and he seemed to be ill due to some strange dark bruises near the neck and shoulders zone. 

The man was carrying a woodcutter axe. He moved towards a pile of wood and he cut a pair of firewood with expert movement. While he was cutting the wood he stopped suddenly and looked his surroundings, looking for the origin of a noise. Some instants after he carried on with his work 

Latimer looked carefully at the symbol pointed by you...

"Uhmmm. I think that you are right doctor. I have never seen a symbol like this. It should be the origin!!. Nice job doctor, now it's time to dial home"

She extracted a fancy tablet from her backpack and after a really short booting time she typed looking for the dial information.

"You are very good with symbols, glyphs and that kind of things. Can you call home Doctor?"

She showed you her screen with the dialing details

I notice my superior's command. But just when I'm going to retreat, a weird man goes out the shelter. He seem to be dangerous, a clear threat. He goes near a pile of wood and start to cutting it just when he try to hear something. I stay to quietly... - Thanks god, it's seem he don't realize we are watching him. -

I make a gesture to my superior, to indicate I'm going to stay in my position until the threat return inside the shelter. And I don't lose sight of him.

We were about to leave the shelter when a sound kept our attention. A huge man exited from the shelter and cut some wood. We stayed for a minute to evaluate the man and see if he was alone or not.

He seemed to listen something and I was afraid that it was us. I hide myself into the bushes and stayed in silence waiting for the man to enter again into the house.

The man returned to the house with tired movements. When he opened the door you heard the noise of some kind of baby or toddler cry. You waited 5 minutes hidden in your positions but nothing more happened.

Following orders of Lieutenant Jenkins you came back to the camp base. While you were returning you noticed that the ground floor near the monolith was burned like if someone had thrown a small bomb near the monumental carved stone. The monolith was intact, without a mark of burn and its surface was perfectly smooth.

When you were back, Major Davis began to shake his arms in an angry way. They were OK, but you are going to have problems with Major Davis if you can't find a good explanation for not reporting as he had ordered.
