The cranky old man sits by the bed's side, leaving his old fashioned coat and hat on top of a nearby chair. Then, producing an old book, looks closely at the boy.

- Come son, let me tell you a story -

The puzzled boy looks suspiciously at the book. His eyes still jumping back and forth from his grandfather to the TV that now stays off at the other end of the room.

- A story? What story grandpa? -

The old man, with a triumphant smile knowing the attention of his grandson is about to be hooked, raises an eyebrow before turning his eyes to the book that now opens at its very first page.

- This is the story of our world. The story of our heroes. The tale of their deeds and adventures. A tale of tales. The story of how legends are born... -

He pauses for a second to look back at the boy to confirm his increasing interest.

- Once upon a time, in the continent of Hilone, in the Ancient Lost City of Cawic, eight strangers met one night at the Triumphant Harper Inn, in what couldn't be call otherwise but a most peculiar reunion... -

- Hold on, hold on! -

Hands raised in the air, his eyes wide open, startled with amusement and disbelief, the child can't believe what he just heard from his grandpa lips.

- Dead? Ilesys? It certainly can not be true... right? - he cries neglecting with his head, a tilt of fearful doubt on his words.

The old man doesn't look up. Not entirely at least. His eyes barely raise from the book to look at the boy through his dense eyebrows. A look of someone who has lived long enough to understand youth impatience, but also to know how do heroes tales end

- Be patient my son. Wait, and all ends will be revealed -

Coughing slightly to clear his throat, he gets back to his book.

- So, where was I... oh, yes... The beam of blue light that stroke our Ilesys... -

- Wait wait wait wait, what??? - the kid's face is a perfect mask of disgust.

- Ugh, are you telling me that now they are going to start with kissing and touching and... and... and sexing!! and and...and those things? Ugh, that's disgusting! - complains loudly while pretends a nausea rises to his throat.

- I don't wanna hear any of that! -

The old man sighs soundly and pauses for a second.

He looks up slowly raising an eyebrow.

- Shut up and sit down - says calmly - There is nothing of that sort here. And if even if it was, don't worry, I wouldn't even mention it to you. - he concludes with the chuckle of someone who knows exactly what those topics mean.

- Those bastards of Erard and Eril! - yells the grandson.

- I can't believe what they did! They are... they are... they are...!!! They are BAD! - he jumps to his feet on the bed.

His grandfather gestures with his hand for him to calm down. So he does and sits back within the sheets.

- At least all of the Heroes are alive and well. I am really glad about that - he smiles for a second, then frowns again.

- But is not fair! The bad guys are getting away with it! How is that possible? How can that happen?!? Is not fair... -

Then grandfather smiles. A knowing smile. That of the one who knows the story. Who know how things develop afterwards and how do they end.

- Calm down boy, calm down. - he says while closing slowly the book.

- You asked me to tell you a story and that's what I did. But this is just the beginning, this is the first tale of a long set of stories. - he puts a hand on his grandson cheek to calm him down. - But this is not the end of it. -

He stands up and smiles gently this time.

- That... that's another story. - turning back, he switches off the light and heads towards the door.

Looking back over his shoulder he just adds.

- Good night boy, rest well. I know you will, our heroes will be watching you. - And leaves the room closing the door behind.
