Three years. That is the amount of time since your dream changes into something really close to a nightmare. You can remember perfectly the day when you became a member of the Anthropology Department at Harvard University, the sensation of sweet vertigo produced by knowing that you were the youngest person who had arrived to be a full time member and that you had defeated several tens of suitors of your position.

Everything started just fine, teaching brilliant students and doing research during your holidays, researched paid by the way using funding from the university. In your last research, two years ago you find some evidences that were aligned with the theory of doctor Daniel Jackson, from Chicago's university who claimed that pyramids were landing platform for alien spaceships, that the Stonehenge's circle could be a landing platform as well.

You contacted with Dr Jackson in order to contrast your theories and you worked in tandem for a while, but suddenly he dissapeared completely from every academic circle. In order to publish your theories you spoke with the Department Chair, Dr. Gary Urton, who laugh at your face. Since then, you were banned from your classes and your research and you worked as a lecturer.

When you were thinking on moving to Europe to have better prospects you were called to the Department Chair's office. You thinked that they were calling to fire you. When you had entered into the room you saw an US air force officer talking to Dr. Urton.

Dr. Byrne, take a sit please. This is Major Samuels. Major Samuels this is Dr. Keyran Byrne. Major Samuels is looking for an archeologist to help the US government in a secret project. I have recommended some of the our serious and professional archaelogist He said with an  evident  irony but he had required you explicitely. I will give you 10 minutes, after that I expect that you were out of my office and out of my university. Is that understood?

Major Samuels nodded with an innocent smiled. Dr. Urton left the office and then Samuels looked at your eyes. He said Well, son. I have an offer you can't refuse. By the way, greetings from Daniel Jackson.

Westpoint Officer Accademy

You should be very happy being the very first of your promotion, achieving the best performance score in the Westpoint history and being the honoured man who make the speech during the graduation day. You should be. But you're not. It's impossible that every office with a rank over Captain don`t remember that your father was the very best of his promotion and that you were as good as him. The problem is even worse with your mates, because they think that everything that you have achieved is due to your father's influences. You're really tip off of that. You don't want to live under the shadow of General Mr Perfect Jenkins forever. If you can choose you will prefer being the son of a postman or a butcher but you can choose. That's one of the reason that you have worked so hard, to demonstrate not only to your father or your mates but for yourself that you deserve to rule your own fate.

During whe graduation ceremony your father was as cold as ever. "Congratulations lieutenant Jenkins. Serve with honour the US Army" were the only words that he dedicated to me during the whole day.

After the speech, I walked along the avenue towards home. I needed to run two or three hours to remove from my body that bitter feeling with a US Air Force Officer joined me in my walk.

"Good speech lieutenant... For being a soldier instead of a politian. I'm major samuels, US Air Force and i want to talk with you for five minutes.... And if you're thinking that your father has sent me you are totally wrong. You're the best of the bests, and I am creating a team with the very best. If you have questions is your time, because I have orders to take you to Colorado a.s.a.p."

Fort Hunter Ligget, California

You were having a bad day, thinking in Laura and the way she died. In that days, the only thing that helped you to calm down yourself is to practice in the shooting gallery. When you had done 30 targets in a raw the shooting officer called you. You were required to present in your Captain's office in 30 minutes.

The shooting officer smiled at you and said "Someone has bothered the big boss. Next time try to leave in peace our captain's daughter double S"

The affaire with Meg, captain's daughter, was a fake. In fact, Meg was lesbian and she had invented the story to avoid being surveilled by his father.

When you entered the office you found your Captain with a Major from the US Air Force. your Captain told you "son, you have been transfered from the 31st division to... I don't know... it's classified. Major Samuels this is your guy. Sargent Smith this is Major Samuels and we have orders to transfer you to Colorado a.s.a.p.. If you have any doubt you can ask Major Samuels now". And then your captain left the room leaving you alone with that mistermysteriousy officer

Really... One favor, Meg ask me only one favor and now all the camp thinks I'm an asshole. Whatever... The bosses want to talk to me. Nowadays I don't fell confortable with military names, I enrolled only to forget Laura, but I don't know if it was a good idea. When I enter the room I stopped feeling the hot sun on my head. - Colorado, the center of the country, the only time I went out of California was to fried my brians in some shitty city in the middle-east, I don't know how but, hell yeah, there, there was really hot. I suppose know your own country it's a good thing.

When the capitain go out of the room I stay staring at the Major Samuels... waiting... weird situation. - I hope that guy starts talking or I`ll be forced to punch his face.

Major Samuels' request caught me off guard. I hadn't ever expected that I could participate in something like that. At least not so soon. I've just graduate at academy and this took me by surprise. Thinking further, that could be my oportunity to leave the shadow of my father and only thinking I could do some operations without his knowledge, made me smile.

Yes sir. What kind of team, sir? Any secret operation in foreign countries? I'm glad you think on me for it and it would be an honor, sir.

I did the military salute and offer my hand to shake.

Major Bert Samuels

Major Samuels stared at you for thirty seconds and then he opened a folder with your name in big red letters. He read you profile for a minute waiting for your reaction and savoring that feeling of power and arrogance that only some asshole officers enjoy showing in front of less ranked officers.

"Well, Sargent. Your profile is really impressive.... for having born in Diablo. The best of your promotion, some reccomendation from your team mates. A good soldier. Someone relieable in combat. You have requested a transference to counterterrorism three times, all of them rejected by your Captain jerk. Well, son. I'm here to send you to the big leagues, to face the most serious threat for our country that makes Bin Laden or islamist terrorism  a piece of cake. If you agree you will have clearance for top secret documents and you will be judge as a traitor in a martial court. You have entered the army to make the world a peaceful place... and that's your chance to make a real impact on it. So, what do you think about that? Are you in or should I pass to the following guy of my list?"

Un apunte a tu post. La palabra para cerebro es brain no brian. Brains (sesos) creo que solo se puede usar para la comida o como sinonimo de inteligencia (Tener sesos).

Major Samuels saluted you and shook your hand in a brief but strong handshake.

"Son, our business is as secret than make black ops turn white in comparison. Of course, you can't talk about this operation to anybody or you will face a nasty martial court being jailed for your entire life for being a traitor. If you're looking to do something more important than your father is your chance. If you're looking to do a real impact for yourself is your chance. Here you are your transference documents. If you agree I will explain you the details in our way to Colorado"

I agree, sir. This is what I've been expecting to turn my career into a better way. Count on me sir.

I saluted again.

When we leave? Should I prepare some baggage? I don't have much things here so I don't leave much behind.

If I could I had left immediately, but I had to prepare my uniforms and some other things to bring with me to my new destination.

Where we meet to leave, sir?

I waited for Urton to leave the office, trying not to give him the pleasure of showing how much he pissed me off. I stepped forward and offered my hand to the officer.

- I'm glad to hear Doctor Jackson is ok. Moreover given the situation. - I pointed with my head to the door. - It looks like I'm not going to stay here for too long. So you're at an advantage here. You know I'm not welcome any more at this college. - I made an effort to keep my grief for myself. - but also you have to know that I was planning on going back to my hometown. So...

I turned around, searching for some liquor I knew the chairman always kept for himself, and poured myself a glass.

- Fancy a drink? - I did not wait for his no, and turned back to him while sipping the old scotch. - You tell me, what's that offer I won't refuse?

Time passes slowly. - Hum, what do I trying to desmotrate? I have never been subordinate and I'll never do it. But It could be a relief punching his face. - His mocking are bothering me, but I try to ignore that part. His offer sounded tempting, but he hadn't given me much information either.
- I'm a soldier sir, I'm here to obey not to give my opinion. But if you ask. I don't know any threat bigger than islamist terrorism - It's clear, this guy is trying to convince me. He want some one with passion. I have passion for my work, but you have to give me something more if you want a clear "Sir, yes Sir!"

He smiled at  your mischief and then he talked to you in a calm way "I can't drink while I'm wearing this uniform, and you shouldn't drink too much because you will need all your senses in a short time. Have you ever watched matrix son?. Do you remember the scene about the red and the blue pills?. You are facing the same dilemma right now. You can take the blue one and you will travel to your hometown and if you are lucky enough, you will teach history in a boring high school or you can take the red one. The red one...The red one is harder, it will put your life at risk sometimes but the reward is the truth. Of course, you will have to sign tons of confidentiality agreements and if you reveal any information you're going to be martial courted"

He smiled at you and after 5 seconds he said "Oh, I forgot to tell you something. You were right, pyramids and Stonehenge are landing platforms. So, what's your final decision? Daniel Jackson has recommended you, but I have more than one option...". He stared at you and said coldly, "and I'm not kidding at all"

Major Samuels stared at you evaluating your body language and then he raised an eyebrow and told you.

"Well son, is it tough enough for you someone who can burst into a top secret US facility, kill 6 brave soldiers and kidnapp a sargent of the US Air Force?. I'm creating a team for a seek and retrieve operation and you have been asking for a chance in counterterrorism.... are you interested in or do you prefer to stay here forever with your Captain jerk?"

Major Samuels saluted you with reluctance and finally said

"You have two hours for preparing your backpack but remember that you are not allowed to say anything about this transference to anybody in this base, your father included. In two hours you will be picked up in the heliport to travel to McGuire US Air Force Base. After that you will sign your clearance and a folder with all the details will be given to you during the flight from McGuire to Peterson. Is that understood? Do you have any question?"

When you were done he ordered you to dismiss.

It was tough your come back home after 3 great years in the rain forest studying for new ways to cure diseases like Chikungunya or yellow fever using unexplored forest resources. Your grandfather died due to heart complications and your family is trying to endure such an overwhelming pain.

After a few days looking after your family, you returned to the job in order to study all the samples collected during your travels to Central and South America using the facilities of the Phoenix University. One week after you come back, the chairman of the department brought you and your work mates a strange sample coming from the government. Your mission was trying to discover what the hell was that without comparing the results with your work mates.

You put the sample under the microscope and then you saw the most strange thing that you had ever seen. The proteine structure was really strange, something close to a snake or maybe a frog ,but completely different from all that you had ever seen at the moment.

However, you are not the kind of people who give up until you have explored all the possibilities. Three days later, while you were studying a dengue virus collected during your journey in Honduras a small part of the strange sample enter in contact with the virus accidentally and then, something really weird happened. The virus was destroyed by the sample in 30 minutes. It couldn't be possible, but it was. You repeated the test with other viruses that you had in the lab and the results were the same. It was going to be the most incredible discovery of penicillin

When you were preparing your final report, a US Air Force officer entered in the lab asking for you. When he finally found you, he told you "Doctor Davis, I'm major Samuels. US Air Force. YOur results with the sample are really impressive. Our government  needs that you come with me to Colorado to study the specimen. Are you interested in?

You arrived the heliport on time. Major Samuels wasn't waiting for you but a brand new Apache was waiting for you with all the crew. When you arrived the pilot asked you

"Are you lieutenant Jenkins?

You nodded him

"Then get on board, you have a transport waiting for you in McGuire where you are going to receive further information"

The travel from Westpoint Academy to McGuire was really quick. In less than an hour you were changing aircrafts and heading to Peterson Base in Colorado.

In that plane you found a folder with tons of documents of something called Stargate but in this moment the cabin crew offered you something to lunch and you realized that you were really hungry. The folder could wait for ten minutes of the 6 hours that your travel was going to last.

I'm waiting for the other members of the team to be on route to "open" the folder with the information. I will write another post with that information, but in short is related with the facts of the movie "Stargate".

-Sir, yes sir! - After the acuard conversations I go out the room, with quickstep I dash through the camp, avoiding the people for not hear more comments about Meg. Once in the barracs I go to my bunk bed, take my bagpack and start filling it. The last thing I paked was that picture, the last picture I took with Laura, and I put it in my pocket. Backpack on the shoulder I left the barracks heading to the annex, where were the female barracks. There I wait at the door, looking for Meg standing at the frame. When She see me, She's headed towards me. -Hey, Smurfie. I guess this is a farewell, but do not even think it's a goodbye. - After this emotive words I hug Her, I don't give a shit about all those who stare at me and talk about the rumor. In this moment I whisper to her ear: - What ever you need, you only have to call me, OK? - She is like the little sister I never had and in some way She remind me Laura, a girl with personality, fighter, the kind of person who knows exactly what She want.

Chance of course, it was a typo :)

One small thing that you have repeated several times. I don't know why, but the only personal pronoum that uses capital letters is I, you, she, he... is always lowercase unless that a previous dot is present (.)
