Suddenly, I saw some figures coming towards us and the guard reacting weird. In just a few seconds, the guard was lying dead in the ground and I could see clearly that the little kid had been the blade of death. Not such a little kid, after all.

I turned to the door just to see that the woman was gone.

Shit - I whispered - The lady is gone. - I said looking at Sionnain and Grimbel before hurrying myself towards the door.

Sionnain looks at Elaria pridely when the guard falls, and smiles her. - I told that I'll protect you. - Says with his sweet voice and then looks for Eril without result.

- Uh-oh. The woman vanishes. - The little boy looks at Grimmel and starts to run behind Elaria. - Let's go!

Since there are no more guards around, is time to get inside and continue your mission. Wondering where could the young half-elf have gone, you walk to the door which opens easily after pushing the handle.

Once you put foot on the marbled titled decorated floor that stands in the middle of the welcome back hall of the Palace, something happens. At first is just a distant hiss, like the sound of the ocean from the top of a cliff. But then it becomes louder and louder until it explodes with a fwooo-like sound at the same time as a huge black endless pit opens magically in the middle of the room floor.

Fortunately, your reflexes were quick enough and you all were alert enough to avoid falling to the magic emptiness that roars now lonely in the middle of the floor while you three stand by the wall holding to frames, stands and chandeliers.

After what looks like an eternity, the floor closes upon itself again and the magic trap disappears as suddenly and mysteriously as it showed up.

From where you are now, there is no sign of Eril. Perhaps she felt to the magic pit, although you truly doubt that, but better not to discard any possibility. Surrounding the back hall, there are several possibilities now where she might have gone and -probably more importantly- where to continue in your search for the scriptures. However, you must remind yourselves, she was the one knowing the path so you can't stop asking 'where and why the hell did she go'.

In any case, you have several options to continue: Exploring the nearby rooms at both sides of the back hall, taking a snail stair at the back of the hall up... or taking it down.

Grimmel, I still need your Ini roll. Should you fail... well, you'll probably fall into the magic pit XD

Where did she go?

Grimmel was wondering the same as anybody else. So far, the elvish girl had not been making things easier. A few steps towards the nearest door and the bard let his companions know his opinion.

—Let us look nearby before taking the stairs. The girl must be somewhere...

Sionnain

Sionnain nods his head and goes silently to the first room. - Ok. We must find her... And the scriptures. - He says in a whisper.

The little boy put his ear in the door and listen, trying to know if there is somebody in the room  before open and go inside.

Damn it. That hole almost swallod us. Rich people had fancy traps, no doubt about it. Or that was what I was hoping for, otherwise the girl could have fallen into the magic pit.

- I don't get why the lady didn't wait for you, for us actually. That was the deal. What's the point of hiring warriors and making teams if she goes on her own? - something was wrong, something didn't add up.

I looked around me. Maybe there was something to track the lady. This wasn't the woods, but maybe I could find something. If we dind't find her soon, we wou.d have to go throuhg strange corridors and therefore we would have a disadvantage. Damn lady.

Sionnain

Sionnain furrows his brow when he hears Elaria and looks at the woman. - She wants to seduce my father. Maybe she's disappointed now and she goes without us for this. - He talks in soft voice.

The little boy pays attention again to the door while whispers to himself. - She's a dirty... A dirty bitch.

Once you are all safe and sound, both feet on the floor and heartbeat back on track, the first objective to investigate the mysterious disappearance of the step sister is the door to your left.

Sionnain bends over and listens... carefully.

Not many sounds can be heard beyond the thick wooden planks but, after a few moments, a distant pattering can be felt by the touch of the ear with the oak. No other sounds. No voices. What could it be?

Sionnain

The face of Sionnain reflects his concentration while he listens carefully through the door. When he raises, he shrugs.

- There are no voices. Only a far... beat. Should we go inside? - He asks, putting his hand on the handle and looking at Grimmel and Elaria, waiting for their instructions.

Our options were limited and I dind't see why not start with the door. It was quite possible that she decided to wait for us there. Nonetheless, those "beatings" made me a bit worried. It could be a trap, it could be some criature. Thats why with my sword prepared I made a gesture towards both of them, asking them to step to one side of the door while I stood on the other, with my hand gripping the handle.

- On three. - I informed them in a really low voice but articulating every word carefully.

Sionnain nods his head and takes the Grimmel's hand to hide with him on the other side of the door. Then he draws his daggers and prepare his position.

In silence, the little boy nods again to Elaria, waiting her count.

He nods silently and waits.

After a short nod, I made the words on my lips but didn't made a noise.

One. Two. Three.

On three, my hand turned the handle in a quick move and pushed the door in to let us three, already prepared for any trap or attack, get into the room.

At the count of three, weapons ready, you slam the door open.

In a sudden burst, a cloud of humidity and cold water midst get out of the new room forcing you all to close your eyes slightly.

When the midst starts fading away, you see what the room really was and the reason for the constant bumping sound you listened to earlier: this new area of the house is a greenhouse. Through a clever mechanisms, several clay jars hanging from the ceiling are watering constant and regularly the sets of plants that completely fill the room. The humidity inside is huge, and the midst gets thicker and thicker through the middle of the greenhouse, making it impossible to see the other side. Might Eril be somewhere here at the other end of the greenhouse?

I squintted lightly before steping forwards, looking carefully everywhere. The family was amazingly wealthy, no doubt about it. A fucking greenhouse INSIDE the mansion. Not in the garden, in the mansion. Good Gods.

With my now free hand (the one that had opened the door) I made a gesture that pretended to mean "careful, slow": palm down, hand up and down, slowly moving. We didn't see anything at first, but that didn't mean there wasn't anything.

Sionnain

Sionnain's eyes grow bigger and bigger when he sees the place at other side of that door. A dark and creepy greenhouse. He feels a sneeze prickling his nose and he scrubs it with his hand while he follows Elaria slowly and carefully, looking around in silence.

The little boy looks at his mentor too, keeping near him. He's ready to jump at any moment, but maybe he's a little distracted with the place and probably he forgets the sound which brought them here.

Defiantly, courageously or perhaps boldly, you decide to step inside the eerie midst of the green house eager to discover what is it at the other side.

The taste of humidity in your mouth seems... funny. There is definitely something odd about this green midst.

However, none of you seem to be affected by whatever it is on it, so probably is just the result of old condensation together with an enclosed green house environment.

As you progress inside the greenhouse, the density of plants increases, as well as the thickness of the midst which now allows you to see no further than your hands in front of you.

Probably thus being the reason why young Sionnain didn't see the nest of tiny spiders hanging from a twisted branch of one of the medium brushes that grow in the green house.

The boy gasps as scores of minuscule spiders fly away from his skin as he removes them frenetically from his body.

Grimmel and Elaria however, alerted by the kid's scream dodged the hanging nests on time and now stare in awe and fun at the small boy dance with the tiny animals.

When all or at least most of the spiders are far from his skin and clothes, Sionnain looks up at the elders with a cranky grim that only results in a sonorous laugh from his adult companions.

Once the episode is over, the three continue deeper in the greenhouse. The end of the room is close now, and the midst seems to be less dense here. A door draws itself upon a wall some feet in front of you.

In the ground just in front of the door, the slim figure of Eril lays unconscious, her eyes closed, her skin even paler than you remembered...

Sionnain

Sionnain walks carefully, with the eyes half-closed, trying to see further than the vegetation allows him. But it's unsuccessful. When the kid feels the spiders running about all his skin -even below his clothes-, he can't control himself and he releases an high and not-much-masculine scream.

The little boy starts jumping and moving to shake off the terrible insects, unaware about the comical scene. When the tickle dissapear at last, he sighs and looks frowning to Grimmel and Elaria.

- Fuck. - He mumbles to himself. - It isn't funny! I really hate spiders.

Sionnain scratchs his arms and head while he starts to walking again when his eyes stopped in the body on the floor. He holds his breath for a second. Then, he looks to the adults.

- We must help her! - He says, before start to run towards the elvish woman.
