A buxom woman entered into the room. She was quite young and charming in spite of all her efforts to avoid looking charming. She introduced herself as Doctor Mallory Davis and took a seat next to Keiran while she was smiling with a mix of shyness and excitement

Doctor Frasier smiled at Doctor Davis and said

"Doctor Davis, I'm Doctor Frasier, medical chief officer at the SGC. We were waiting for you. Your work is just incredible!. I hope that we can collabote closely to keep safe our men"

That was enough rudeness for a day. But I had to be aware I was messing with Army people here. So no more kidding.

- I beg you pardon, General. Not all of us have been trained to remain calmed in every situation. But I'll do my best.

I stared for a few minutes to the information they provided, muttering from time to time, making an effort to understand everything.

- Well, the letters are obviously runes, likely Nordic. Absolutely not Celtic. They could represent ideograms, but most probably they are single characters. There is not enough text as to decrypt them. I would need the rest of the inscription to make a guess.

I took a look again at the monolith.

- The symbol on the top is pretty common here on earth, a hammer, also from Nordic mythology. But to get a clear idea of the intention of the statue I would need to check it personally. It can be some kind of altar, or a warning, or even a burial place. Definitely, I will need a closer look to get answers.

I also took the chance to say hello to the recently arrived lady.

- By the way, my name is Dr. Keiran Byrne, at your service.

The Mayor's words reassure me. I fel confortable with our own weapons. - I thought while the Doctor said Doctor's things. A pretty Woman enter the room... Another Doctor, I hope they know a little about military strategy. I thought this was a military thing, I guess these person are necesary for all scientific stuff.

I stare at the woman with a poker face and I salute her. And I continue with my serius stance.

He frowned while he was listening to Keiran but finally he nodded because of his analysis.

"You will have your chance Doctor. If you are as brilliant as Doctor Jackson suggested you are going to be an important member of the SGC."

He let his eyes wander over all the people in the room, slowly, taking his time to analyze your body language, looking for something out of place

"Gentlemen, Ladies. Time is running against us. As you have seen, three days ago we were members of an abandoned project in the middle of anywhere until we had some nasty and unexpected visitors from an unexpected and unknown origin. We have discovered an unexpected stargate address and we can't discard any possibility. They could exist only two gates, more than two, or another gate in Abydos. We could find the hostile aliens in this address or other hostile race. We don't know, and we need to know in order to defend ourselves.

Your mission is to explore that address and find out if the address correspond with our aliens, and if it's the case you must rescue the hostage. They have attacked us previously and we have orders from President Obama to use all the force that we need in order to accomplish the mission. Finally,if it's possible you must destroy his gate to prevent further attacks to Earth

If the gate takes you to other planet, you will be sent into a recon mission. You will have a week to discover anything that could be of strategical value for the SGC: Contacts, Technology or Information but remember that you are not only members of the SGC but also representatives of the mankind. I hope that you're team will rise to the challenge Major

Major Davis answered at once.

"Yes sir, my team will accomplish the mission without  doubt"

General Hammond nodded and smiled

"I wish you were succesful Major, an SGC member's life is at risk"

Then he looked at Doctor frasier and told her

"Doctor, could you explain them the effects of the gate upon the human body?"

Doctor Frasier smiled at you with some sympathy in her eyes

"I will explain as easy as I can. Have you ever pulled out of a simulated bombing run in an F-16 at 8-plus G's?- It's worse and when you arrive to the other side you're frozen stiff, like you've just been through a blizzard, naked. "

Roll a percentual dice, please :)

Captain Latimer interrupted the Doctor's speech like a nerd when the teacher is asking something to the class

"That's a result of the compression your molecules undergo during the millisecond required for reconstitution. But don`t worry, this side effects only last for one or two minutes. We are going to be perfectly safe"

General Hammond listened to the explanation and finally asked you

"Ok then. You have a go for P5X-984. Do you have any question?"

All clear, general.

I was nervous and a bit scared at the same time to undertake this mission. It was totally different from anything I had prepared for myself at the Academy. Although, well thought out, it was not so different. Go to unknown territory to explore and perhaps find a hostile race or not. I looked at the other people at the table and I was aware at the time that those were the only faces I would see in a long time, unless they allowed me to leave the base, which I doubted.

Sir, - I said to Captain Latimer. - Could someone show us where the main facilities are? Dining, services, rooms.

Captain Latimer and Major Davis looked at Hal completely astonished by his comment. When Captain Latimer was about to answer Hal General Hammond spoke to him

"I'm afraid we don't have time for the whole tour of our facilities. You must be ready to go in one hour since we are done. You will have in your designated rooms on level 25 your new uniform and Master Sergeant Gresky will be waiting for you in the armery to prepare your weapons"

"In the meanwhile we will prepare the M.A.L.P. with all the supplies needed to survive one week in a tropical environment: Shelter, food, water, medicinies and militar equipment"

Finally, he smiled at Hal and said "Son, keep calm. You are going to do it well... I'm sure of your success. Bring her home if you cand find her or bring new toys for our 51 area's guys"

When I arrived to the meeting room, there were some militaries and a civilian talking about a mission related to the stargates I read in that "top secret" folders. I greeted them, but I was a bit confused because I thought I'll be working on my research with the alien specimen. 

I smiled at Doctor Fraiser and said

"Thank you, Doctor Fraiser. It's a honor for me to meet you. I've read your studies and they are amazing. I think we'll do a great work together" 

After that, I looked at the man who was seated next to me

"Doctor Mallory Davis, pleased to meet you" I said to Keiran and then I whispered "Am I the only one who don't understand all this military stuff? If you don't mind, could you summarize me what is this mission about? And what is a P5X-984? Sorry, I'm really lost..."

Between all this military stuff I felt better with another civilian by my side and another doctor (althought she was a military one).

When Doctor Frasier pronounced the word "naked"  in her speech you could see how Major David looked at you slyly. When you noticed his gaze he looked at a folder of the mission immediately

Major General Hammond woke up and said 

"Dismiss. We will be waiting for you at the gate room in one hour. Airmen, please accompany the team to their rooms and to the armery. Doctor Davis do you have a minute?"

All the people in the meating room left except for General Hammond, Doctor Frasier and Doctor Davis.

General Hammond looked at you and said

"Doctor David, you will have a special mission. If it's possible you must capture one of these Goa'uld... alive. We will give you a cryogenic container to store the subject.

And, the most important.... you are an expert at contagious diseases, you will have the responsability to guarantee that our men are not ill with a contagious illness. Your opinion as an expert is vital to allow the team to return home. If your tests are negative you will send the code "Green Smoke" via radio. Major Davis is informed about your mission so you will have the last word in everything related to the health of our men and the safety of this base. Is that understood?"

"Doctor Frasier will help you to carry everything you could need in your mission"

Doctor Frasier answered

"It will be a pleasure. You are going to need a lot of equipment Doctor Davis. Taking care of our men is a full time job. By the way can I call you Mallory?, I'm Janet... We are going to work in team for some time and I am not comfortable with an strict millitary etiquete"

You left the room with the Doctor and you headed to the infermery to pick up all the material needed in your mission
