Your rooms were located on level 25. They were surprisingly bigger than expected, one big and looking comfortable bed, one oak desk with a wheel chair and a private toilet. You have slept in worse places than that. In fact, if you didn't look at the boring gray colour on the walls it could be a nice place to stay for a while.

On your bed you found a green militar uniform for operations in a tropical climate

You could find your military Ribbons (except for Keiran that doesn't have any) in your uniform as expected. In the left arm of the uniform you found your new unit patch... you hoped that it was your unit for a long time.

You got dressed as soon as you could and you headed to the armoury to pick up your equipment

After changing clothes you visited the armory where Master Sergeant Gresky was waiting for you. He greeted you and gave you your standard equipment

With my new suit, I headed for the armoury, fearing what I'll find there. And I was right to be scared, weapons, and there was one for me. I picked the MP5 up and hold the weight for a minute.

- I think I'd need some training with this. I'm pretty capable of shooting a pistol, but I'm afraid I can be a risk to my own team with one of these.

I put it back on the table.

- But I'd rather have a tablet, and somewhere I can load some info for the mission. Having some archaeological references would prove very useful. I do not expect having an Internet connection there, right? If you need the list of references, I'll provide one. But I'd rather load them myself.

I looked around, and also found the grenades.

- And under no circumstances am I throwing one of those. Really, I have no weapons training. At all.

One hour to go... that's the kind of mission I like. Quick, with out time to think and with a clear objetive: Sergeant's rescue. When I arrived to my room I changed my clothes. When I finished, I went to the corridor and I wait for Keiran. It's clear who has military training and who's not. While Hal and I wait, I said to him:

- I hope our friendly Doctor know to move in hostile terrain.

When the Doctor arrived we went to the armory there were a lot of toys. - All this stuff, is going to be very usefull. - I thinked

- Don't worry Doc, the use of this things is our job. - I said pointing at Hal and me. - I'm going to protec you and the lady.

I wear my new clothes and looked at the mirror how it fits me. I touched the patch with the "21" and thought about all that this new role will bring to my life. I'll go to explore other planets. I'll leave the Earth and I didn't know if I was capable of giving my best on it.

I still felt the shadow of my father in every decision, in every step I made. I breathed deeply and I put the cap on. I looked fine in my new suit. I left my room towards the armory. A set of weapons was ready for me there. I took them and placed the knife into its sheath, the gun into its holster and hanged the MP5 on my shoulder. I store the magazines into the different pockets of the the suit and I went to the Stargate room ready for action.

Master Sergeant Gresky breathed deeply once, twice, three times before answering Keiran's requests:

"Doctor Byrne, using a fireweapon is quite easy. You remove the lock and pull the trigger and that`s it!. Some bullets will exit from this tubular thing on the frontside of the weapon, some noise... and if you are lucky, damned lucky you will hit someone different from you"

He laugh his head off and said

"Just kidding doctor, no offense. I think you will be safer using only the beretta. Doctor Jackson, had the same problems than you and now he shoots quite well, for being a civilian. " He recovered the MP5 and their mags and handed you 6 mags for the gun. "We take care of our team members, you will be safe.... and these guys" he pointed at Jenkins and Smith " seem to know how to spit fire. I'm so sorry but if you're searching nerd's ammo you will find what you are looking for at level 19, Daniel Jackson's Sancta Sanctorum. Good luck Doctor, and bring my weapons back"

When Keiran went to the lift looking for the library Master Sergeant Gresky told Sergeant Smith

"Oh boy, you are going to be his nannies. Do you want some diapers just in case?"

Lieutenant Jenkins arrived 30 minutes before the deadline to the gate room. The room was huge, 10 meters height, 30 meters width and 30 meters deep and was defended by two heavy machine guns at both sides of a ramp. The ramp connected the room with the stargate. The stargate was the most weird structure that you have seen. One metallic disc carved with strange glyphs able to rotate to fix the chevrons... 

When you were admiring the stargate, Major Davis arrived and told you

"I'm happy not being the only person who is nervous"

I couldn't be around with this.... thing, here. I'm nervious, of course, but I'm also intrigued and with curiosity of cross this... gate and with a simple step be in another planet.

I looked at Major Davis

We'll take back Sergeant, Major Davis and we will recover any information that help us to defend ourselves against these kind of alien. We need to ensure the base against attacks and if it's possible the whole planet.

Many thought cross my head while I was observing the artifact. How could transport a live organism to thousand millions of miles across the galaxy without suffering any harm. That will be a leap in the dark.

Major Davis gaze gave me goosebumps... But I stared at him and continue listening to Major General Hammond.

When Major General Hammond and Doctor Fraiser told me to stay in the room I thought they would explain me the mission because I had arrived late, but it was something different. 

"I'll do my best to keep safe our men and the base, Major General Hammond, trust me. But just to make certain... If the test are positive I assume the code will be "red smoke, right?" 

After a few seconds I added

"Oh and... How are these Goa'uld? If I have to capture one of them alive I need more information about them."

After talking about my special mission with Major General Hammond I followed Doctor Fraiser to the infirmary.

"Sure, I prefer it too" I said with a smile "Are you... coming to that planet, Janet?"

Major Davis tapped Hal's shoulder and told him

" I hope you'are right but in three days' time it could happen anything. She could be alive, dead or in other planet...It's a recon mission but it will be better to keep our eyes open, just in case"

Then you listened in the megaphone system

"SG21 members, report to gate room in 15 minutes. SG21 members, report to gate room in 15 minutes. "

Finally, you saw a team preparing a MALP and two carriers for your equipment.

Even though the joke about my inability to shoot pissed me off, I got happy a few minutes afterwards. All the info I had saved on the tablet would help me identify some of the most difficult symbols of the monolith. Time flied faster than I expected, and almost had to run to get to the Gate in time.

- Dr. Byrne reporting. - If they wanted me to be more formal, I'd comply - Ready to depart, gents.

I arrived to the infirmary with Janet and I started to prepare my medical kit. We would stay out there just a few days but I had to be prepared for anything. 

"Well, I think that's all, I'm ready to go to the armory. By the way... Who do we have to look for after crossing the stargate? I came late to the meeting and I'm a bit lost with the mission"

Janet shook her head sadly and told you "I'm sorry. I wish I can go with you but I have a lot of job here"

When you entered the infarmary you saw the reason. 3 men were badly injured due to an alien attack. The injuries were some severe burnings, in your opinion some kind of electrical burning, and some broken bones. Doctor Frasier followed your gaze and said

"They're in a bad shape, but hopefully they will survive. Kathia was not so lucky, she was kindnapped by the aliens. One of the reasons for joining the team is to take care of her in case you can find her.... or prove that she continues to be human."

She pointed to her computer "We don't have any goa'uld at the SGC because the 51's guys took them, but I have some photos. I don't have more information about the goa'uld...we have arrived at the same conclussions about them, but we need brand new material...and here you are!, our friendly snake-shaped bugs  " 

"It's handsome, isn't it?. You will have 2 cylinders with cryogenic material to store living specimens. We don't know if they are dangerous or not, so be extremely careful"

"Now, you must prepare your baggage for your trip. Remember, the most important is that you don't bring a new pathogen to Earth. You will have all the biometrical information of our men. Good luck Mallory!"

And he left the room to take care of the injury men.

Major Davis looked at Keiran and nodded to him

"Welcome Doctor. Don't shoot if you are in danger... leave the bullet stuff to us and we will leave to you the archaeological stuff, deal?"

A nurse entered in the gate room and asked you for samples of blood and saliva to create your biological profile.

"I'm sorry gentlemen, orders from Doctor Frasier"

She took her samples and left the room leaving you with the feeling that it will be nice to be ill if this nurse will take care of you.

The megaphone system shouted again

"SG-21, please report to the gate room in 10 minutes"

You saw Captain Latiner in the control room talking to the gate operator. Then the gate operator talked throught the megaphone system

"All SGC members in the gate room stay away from the ramp until the gate is open"

I smile at the comment of Damien Gresky. - Thank you for your offering but I think Jenkins and I can handle it. - I pat on the Gresky's shoulder while I go straight to the Gate Room.

All of this excite me. I close my fist around the handle of my gun, expectating. When the megaphone system sounded I realized that I'm just on the ramp. I jumped aside to clear it. and I waited.

Ok, Guys. Are you ready to play? - I asked to the rest of my trip partners.

You could see Captain Latimer and General Hammond through a window in the upper part of the gate room. They were talking to a man in front of a computer, you supposed that man was the gate operator.

The megaphone system shouted again

"Gate team, gate team perform the security checks on the gate"

A team of weird scientists flew to the door dressed in some kind of bright yellow anti radiation suit. They did their job with a perfect synchronization closer to a ballet crew than a scientist team. The chief of the gate room used a walkie and said

"All indicators are green. The gate is ready to dial"

The megaphone system shouted one more time

"Understood Chief. Gate team put the M.A.L.P. on the ramp"

Two members of the team guided the probe to the ramp using some sort of remote control. After checking the communication system of the robot they indicated that the system was running as expected.

"M.A.L.P. is online. Are you receiving the signal in the control room?" Asked the gate team chief

"We are receiving the signal Chief. Stay back.General Hammond permision to dial to P5x-984, sir"
 

Major General Hammond nodded at the gate technician

"Permision granted Master Sargent. Dial P5X-984"

It was the time. The gate will open and we will go through it. A voice sounds in the room performing the last checks and asking for permission to finally open the gate.

I was expectant and I didn't miss a single detail of all the operation. I held my breath while the Stargate started to make sounds and I waited for it to start doing somehting.

A shouting alarm resounded in the whole room, with flashing red lights.

Then the gate operator started the dialing procedure.

Stargate began to rotate to lock the chevrons in their dialing positions.

"Chevron 1 engaged

Chevron 2 engaged

Chevron 3 engaged

Chevron 4 engaged

Chevron 5 engaged

Chevron 6 engaged

Chevron 7 locked"

And then, all the mighty of the stargate came in action. A blue whirlwind of blue light formed the event horizon of the wormhole
