I've been dipping into and out of the IC thread but since the story seems to be evolving without Shane's involvement I have kept quiet for now. I will try and join in the chat if I see the notice early enough!

To fulfil the cliche from this end - I'm a 32 year old history teacher from manchester UK, married with 2 kids (2-5) and driving a '72 VW beetle (and a ford focus :) )

Cheers, Hal

As for the cliche:
I'm 21 Years Old, I was born in a town called Medina del Campo but actually I share a flat with my sister at Valladolid in the middle north of Spain. This is almost my first time playing role games. I studied History at the university for a pair of years but actually I work at a Department Store. I hope to finish my degree in the near future.
I share an Opel Corsa with my sister but I don't use the car so much within the city. In fact I hate to drive

On my side, I'm 54, with a formation of Technical Engineer (Chemistry), although I switched to Sales some 20 years ago. I've worked for one of the biggest oil companies and I'm a -currently unemployed- Sales and Marketing Manager.

I'm happily married, with a son of 20 and a daugther of 17, I drive a Citroen C4, and play 2-3 hours of tennis every week, besides swimming 1.000 m (50 pool lengths) every day in Summer.

Well, I was a lawyer but one happy day, two years ago, I slipped away in the bathroom and my head knocked the wc. I can't remember nothing, but the next day I was a Soldier at the Spanish Airforce. Currently I'm in Afghanistan (there are some images here), expecting going back home next month.

I'm 29, I've a lovely girlfriend, and nobody has been able to prove anything about any childrens I may have. I play almost every existing musical instrument (but there's no musical instrument I can really master or even play for good).

When I have to go somewhere I just teleport myself, so I don't really need any vehicle at all.

¡You play every musical instrument, Enaitz! Wonderful...
I play the piano but it is quite difficult. I learnt a little but I want to take piano lessons again in the near future.

Really for the keyboard I prefer the organ or the harpsichord. As the harpsichord is a quite demanding instrument I moved to organ and really I can not play a lot of things on standard piano.

When I was a hippie (in the university years) I was in a band which made covers of things like Door's Light My Fire (I remember once playing that song for half an hour in a neverending soloing chain), Iron Butterfly, Zombies and that kind of stuff.

I only wish I had something of that old times recorded. The only thing I've ever recorded was a quick demo for a soundcard, and I played the first thing I remembered on a acoustic guitar without even trying it first:

Once again, welcome guys. (That includes the ladies too.)

To reconnect to the topic I set for the chat earlier: What is the best scenario you´ve been part of? (Regardless of system)

So far we have (Both for Call of Cthulhu):

Masks of Nyarlathothep - Shanghai chapter. Syrinx

Horror on the Orient Express Darofar [edit: Medieval fantasy is a favourite genre.]

The log of the chat can be read in the scene at the bottom of the list.

The most terrific one was, no doubt, Tomb of Horrors. A classical D&D scenario.

Long time ago, indeed. Never played it, but sat in on the beginning. Plenty of traps in that one...

I purchased The Temple of Elemental Evil for AD&D and really liked the setting. Never got to like the game system, though. I was a RuneQuester myself. D&D was more computer-game-like. I use my +2 Great Sword and bash the red dragon!

I even tried palying RuleMaster, but way too many lists and tables. But, by picking and choosing from various games one can create something beautiful.

One of my other loves from the early days was Traveller. That system I could grasp - even if it wasn´t percentage based. I sat with two friends and played Prison Planet and that was the creepiest night ever.

Nice Tune, Enaitz!

I am learning fast about games and rules bbut this is almost my first time playing this kinda games. I am playing actually this game (Cthulhu), one Runequest, one D&D and one Fading suns.
Fading suns is cool!

I find D&D got so much rules and strategy, and forgets about playing a role and building a character story and personality. Then I like the other games much more.

Unfortunately yes. A tipical cliché about say that it depends a lot on the director with wich you duel, but i must say that in the D&D4e game that i have been running for 6 months, all my attempots to draw my players to the dark side of the role have failed.

Character's background was generated interactevely on a round table in wich each player told a part of the history. Ive done a lot of extra work an material apart of the history line to provide a coherent course of action, i surround my players with usefull NPCs that guides and comment every thing that they live in diferents ways, i even put a name and a dialoue on each shoopkeeper that they found. But nothing... there is no way. They still face the escenario like a board game.

What led me to the conclusión that maybe the problem with the game was not my clumsy way of managing, but hte problem was on my players.

Anyway... As i told dave in the chat a days ago, the role genre that i like th most is medieval fantasy. An i still wainting the day that i can play a game with d20 system that meets my expectations.

Best campaign as a player in RL (not online):

WFRP V1 - The enemy within campaign (particularly Shadows over Bogenhafen...pure quality) I played a young and naive Priest of Sigmar.

Best campaign as a Keeper:

Call of Cthulhu - Masks of Nyarlathotep (we got up to London before TPK ended that one).

Dark Heresy - Malleus Calixis (Online and ongoing over at play@yog-sothoth.com)

Cheers, Hal

Setting: The Thing - Antarctica - Alien (Modern - pre End Times)

Currently "five pages" in to the story. We´re in need of a substitute to either take over a character or start with a new one. The team is on route to the drop zone and will continue with snowmobile. The new character could be waiting at the drop zone or at the descent to the sub-level oil rig.

The player characters are starting on a mission to investigate an experimental oil rig below the Antarctic ice.

...

Cita:

At this point they have left the floating base of UN Strike Force Valhalla located just north west of the Antarctic coast. The team has none or only little knowledge of each other. They are assembled by their UN superiors or their private company´s directors.

Before they left the base a murder attempt was made at a possible link to the assignment. There may be forces who work against a solution to the problem below the ice. Maybe one of the team members is working for the other side?

The team is eight heads strong and come from military, technical or theoretical backgrounds.

Do you want to join the investigation?

This could works, i think.

While gone fishing, I found three new players for this game. We´ll see on what location I´ll put them.

One from Germany, one from Australia and one from Spain. We´re going global!

Welcome to all new and old players.

The story has just begun...

Notas de juego

If I´m being too wordy and use to many difficult words, tell me and I´ll break it down for you. A 200 word post can be summarized in ten words.

If you are lost, let me explain the situation.

On account of the last few words in the chopper:

Those points made are great input. Instead of accepting the INTEL you receive, you challenge the sgt to maybe tell you more than he wants (or maybe can). To anticipate trouble down the road will be a life saving deed, for sure.

Well played!

Welcome, guys,
Herzlich Wilkommen bei uns ;)

Let's enjoy together. It will be so funny when this web will be full of international players. Until now I think we had only people from America and Spain, all spanish speakers. But it is funny also to manage games in English and that will open a gate to much more partners worldwide.

As for the language, I find some problems with coloquial English, but I think I am understanding all you are writing after reading twice or three times your posts.

And about the Game you announced, I checked the Forum and the links you wrote about. I registered myself, but I find not as easy to manage as this web. Why do not you move your game and players into this web? I think here the game options, allthough wrotten in Spanish, are so easy and intuitive. What do you think?

Yes, say hello to the man from down under. Gazza is from Australia. The German fellow has not showed up , yet. We have a new girl on the team though. Say hi to Leslie!

Lorena, as for moving the other games, I might start a new game over here when this one has ended.

The feeling of a web site can stick to you. You get addicted to the site. This problem is the same for everyone. We are all used to the easiest way, right?

In my experience it takes just a couple of posts to get accustomed to a new site. Hey, I wrapped my head around this beast, didn´t I?

These things are said in all kindness and with no disrespect.

But, sure the best thing should be to keep all games on one site. I totally agree. The hard part is to move players from one site to another. (At least all players from a game.) Right, Hal?

/Dave
