Ed Stein was already a somewhat notorious outlaw further south before seeking refuge in the Delaware area, and it did wasn´t long before he started to make his mark. While most of the other outlaws that used the Lee ranch as their hideout were content with stealing some cattle and keeping a low profile, Ed Stein planned a series of attacks to the small caravans traveling in the nearly abandoned roads.
This time, he had chosen to ride with Jack Dekker, “Ace of Spades” Mayer and the young “Choctaw” Lee. And the target was a wagon carrying goods and some money. Ed had received word that the wealthy Mormon business owner Winfrod Alexander was heading east.
There was a road bend, and a trunk that forced the wagon to stop. Then the four men appeared out of nowhere. Jack Dekker was holding the reins of the four stolen horses, while the other three walked towards the wagon.
Mr. Alexander stepped down, and next to him there was a tall bearded man. The elderly business owner was carrying a Smith&Wesson, and probably had a rifle somewhere in the wagon. Ed liked to keep his calm, and kept on walking until only about 30 feet separated him from the two men. The other man did not look like the sharpest tool in the shed, and apparently he did not carry a shooting iron unless it was hidden somewhere in the old and dark drench coat he was wearing.
The main combat stats for the NPC:
Speed | Accuracy | Gunfights | HP | WIS | |
Winford Alexander | 11 | -1 | 0 | 28 | 9 |
Johny Alexander | 7 | -2 | 0 | 24 | 10 |
Tom Greeley (apprentice) | 5 | -1 | 1 | 22 | 13 |
Ed Stein | 0 | 6 | 4 | 24 | 16 |
-Howdy, Ed said with a strange a menacing smile and while his left hand touched his sombrero, his right hand was always close to the Colt Bisley he carried. The Mormon gazed at the young half breed on the right hand side of Ed Stein, also carrying a Colt Bisley, and Mayer to the left of Ed Stein with his hand resting on the Peacemaker. He knew the odds were against him.
Then suddenly a third person jumped down from the back of the wagon, and stood facing Choctaw Lee, about twenty feet away. –Johny, don´t do it, begged the Mormon to his son. Johny was about sixteen, and his eyes were locked with Choctaw´s.
Initial situation:
Actions are declared in the order of WIS from lowest to the highest unless someone bursts outs what he wants to do without waiting for the rest.
WIS: Choctaw 9; Dekker 15; Mayer 10
So: Winford has already started begging his son not to something stupid.
Choctaw is next, and Johny is staring at him moving his fingers.
Then Mayer declares what he wants to do (he is on the other side of the action), then Greeley and finally Ed Stein as he has the highest Wisdom.
Please declare actions, starting with Choctaw. Also everyone please roll 1D10 at the same time as declaring, for starting initiative.
Chostaw tries to be calm. But he can't. This is the opportunity to prove himself in front of Ed. And he doesn't want to mess up the all thing. He stared at Johnny
- Yes Johnny listening to your father. And be quiet
While he is speaking Choctaw put his hand on his gun and cockes it.

-Easy there, fancy pants -I said. The boy was far too young to handle something like this, so I waited for the father to react. I was really expecting the mormont to cooperate, 'cause I didn't want to shoot the kid, and I'm afraid I wouldn't hold my gun back if he tried something stupid - You'd better listen to your father here, he's got a point.

I guess our guns are already loaded, so I don't declare preparing it. I just wait to see what happens.
Btw, sorry for my possible mistakes (I mean language mistakes).
Young Johny´s hand shakes just a little when he looks at Choctaw Lee, and then he goes for his Colt Navy he carries somewhere in his jacket!

For everyone: Gunfight experience affects Speed and Accuracy as follows (this is already included in the Speed and Accuracy values, just for your info) :
Gunfights | Speed | Accuracy |
0 | 4 | -2 |
1 | 2 | 0 |
2-3 | 1 | 1 |
4-6 | 0 | 2 |
Johny goes for his gun: 6+7=13 count is when he starts, and as he has no holster, it takes him 8 counts to get the weapon out. So by count 21 he will have drawn it out and will decide whether to hipshoot, aim, etc.
Choctaw: 4+8=12 Count is when you start your action (I guess you will draw also which takes 5 counts so you will be ahead of the boy, please confirm and whether you will steady aim helping with the other hand, fanfire, hipshoot or fire deliberately or taking careful aim).
Mayer: Guns are loaded but not drawn. From your position, the kid is partly covered by the wagon corner.
The man standing next to the Mormon took a step to his right, away from the old man. With his arms extended, he looked at Ed Stein...

Initiative (he has not decided what to do yet, except move slightly): 5+3=8
-To hell with ya all, yelled Ed Stein. He did not want to leave any survivors behind, and Johny´s action was the only excuse he needed. With incredible lightning speed, he pulled out his Colt with the intention to fire deliberately at the old man.

Choctaw: initiative 12, draw a weapon +5 (please confirm)
Johny:initiative 13, draw a weapon no holster +8 and +1 gun modifier, gun will be out on count 22
Mayer: initiative 15, please confirm action
Tom: initiative 8, move 5 feet to the right +10 count, so he will be ready for his next action on count 18.
Winford:initiative 17, turns around to look for a weapon below the driver seat +10.
Ed: he is quick! He draws his gun when he sees Johny drawing out his weapon from inside his coat, so on count 18 he starts aiming at Winford (+4)
Jack Dekker: he is holding the reins with his left hand, and carries his rifle on the other one.
As you can see, there is a sort of a stand still where actions are declared, and then everything happens very quickly. No turns as such, only the "Count Up".
Jack, please declare your actions and roll for initiative.
-To hell with ya all,
Choctaw need nothing more to start shooting.
I confirm that. I want to draw and make a fanfiring with the other hand
Just what I expected: the boy was far too young to handle the situation and now he was going to die like the reckless fool he was. Such a pitty...
Same here, my action is to draw my weapon.
Jack said nothing, just acted professionally. The father and son were covered, so he turned his attention to the third component of the small group of the wagon. He was almost sure there will be shots before he could act, but had the advantage of being a little bit away, not being the mean target for nothing and that also gave him some perspective of events.
He raised his rifle and took careful aim, but without wasting time.

I carefully aim at Tom "Five Aces" Greeley.
Mayer draws his shooting iron, same as Choctaw. Choctaw and Johny both have their guns out at the same time, but while Johny bears to aim, Choctaw fanfires his Colt Bistey (+2 Count).
Tom the apprentice moves further towards the horses, looking for protection, while the old Mormon is grabbing a rifle from the wagon. Jack bring his rifle up and starts pointing at Tom.
Ed aims carefully at the old man, ignoring everything else happening around him.

Choctaw: your Accuracy penalty for Fanfiring is only -3. Please specify where you aim (head, chest, etc) and roll 1d20
Johny: he brings his gun to aim (+4) and wants to shoot straight away (shot at count 25 depending on the outcome of the Choctaw shot).
Mayer: you have +3 speed modifier for your long 9" barrel Peacemaker, total draw 5+3 and bear to aim +4 = 12 counts (ready on count 27). Please select if you wish to fire deliberately or take careful aim. Your target is moving towards the wagon horses for protection.
Winfrod: grabs a rifle (count 27)
Tom: keeps on moving towards the horses for protection (+10 count), count 28.
Ed: keeps his cool even though he sees the old man getting a rifle out, and decides to fire deliberately (+8 counts, will shoot on count 32)
Jack: you have your weapon ready to aim (bring to aim, +4), please choose if you are going to take careful aim (+10 counts) or fire deliberately (+4). Tom is not protected by the horses yet (but he does not have a gun out either)
Jack: you have your weapon ready to aim (bring to aim, +4), please choose if you are going to take careful aim (+10 counts) or fire deliberately (+4). Tom is not protected by the horses yet (but he does not have a gun out either)
I will prefer to take careful aim and shoot him in the heart or the head.
By the way, what Dead Eye exactly does?
Jack: OK, you need to specify heart OR head, probably best to aim for the chest as you are quite far away, and if you miss the mark, it´s more likely you hit him somewhere else. If you aim for the head, 75% of the other directions would end up hitting nothing.
Your shot will fire on Count 25
Dead Eye: you have keen eyesight and/or practical knowledge of trajectories, so the negative modifier due to range is less if the target is over 30´away. In this case, your rifle has 0 negative due to distance anyway (check the Notes on your character sheet). But if the target was 140 feet away for example, you would not get -2 but -1 (as if he was one distance closer).

Ok. i aim to the chest
I'll aim to the chest too.
I'll aim carefully to the head.
Choctaw´s hand is quick on the Colt Bisley, and he fires using the left hand to cock the gun. The shot hits Johny above the waste and sends him to the ground laying on his back.

COUNT: (...)22, 23, 24Choctaw SHOT#1, 25Jack ready to fire,
Choctaw: Shot #2 at Count 24 (he had cocked the weapon already). He aims for the chest. Roll 19 -3 Fanfiring + 2 distance (just below 20´) = 18. Very good. Then we roll 1d4 (1 Hearts, 2 Clubs, 3 Spade, 4 Diamonds) to determine which direction the shot went from the intended target (the distance is per result of the roll, so the closer it was to 25 the closer it will hit the intended target). Using the shotclock, we can see it hit Johny in the abdomen, close to his waist. Roll for damage => 6HP, fall prone, drop items, internal bleeding and bullet lodged.
FLINCHING: whenever someone gets shot (or bullet hits close), he needs to check against willpower (WIS). The modifiers are the HP suffered (6 in this case) and previous gunfight experience. Johny fails by 5, so in addition to everything else, his next action is delayed 5 counts (in any case as he fell down it interrupted whatever he was doing)
Johny will was going to shoot at Count 25 (+3 cock and fire), depends on the outcome of Choctaw shot => he fell down.
Jack: fires Count 25 at Tom (chest), please roll 1d20, +3 Count for cock and fire.
Tom: finishes move Count 28?
Ed: shoots at Count 32 (chest), + 3 count for cock and fire
Winford: grabs the rifle (count 27) and brings it to bear looking to shoot at Ed with steady aim (count 33), +3 counts cock and fire
Mayer: draws his Peacemaker and aims carefully (+3 Accuracy), shoots at Tom at Count 37 (aiming for the head), +3 counts cock and fire. Also please roll 1d20
Mayer tried to shoot to kill the man who was trying to get some cover behind the wagon horses, aiming for the head. The situation was already out of control, with the kid lyin' on the ground. They just had to kill 'em all.

I think that with +3 accuracy I can achieve a +14, right? So that is a hit in the head.
