7. [AC1-Sc7] The Hunter

After a few hours asking around different places, Trinity got a tip from a young farmer. He had seen three horses next to the abandoned barn, and when he sneaked closer to have a look, three men came out and got on their horses and rode away as if the devil himself was after them. One of the men had difficulties walking, and the boy took Trinity to the barn. There were some bloody bandages on the floor, and a few empty tin cans of food.

From the looks of it, they were heading to one of the ferries that would take them south, out of Delaware.

When Trinity met with Jack, he said that one farmer had shot someone in the dark the previous night, but he had gotten away. The two then rode to the ferries, and soon enough (and after spending a few dollars), they had a good description of the horses, and also they had a description that matched that of Jim Copeland, Saul Dyer and Earwin Dyer.

The two hunters headed southwest. But they were not the only ones. Saul Dyer was captured by a mob, and hanged before Trinity and Jack got there. He had been left behind by Earwin Dyer and Copeland, probably because of the lodged bullet he had in his leg after the shooting.

On the other hand, the rewards for Earwin Dyer and Jim Copeland were increased:

And there were also rumors other Delaware outlaws were heading to the South West.

It was a long hunt through different states, sometimes on horse back, other times they traveled by train.

As the weeks and months went by, Jack taught Trinity all he knew of the trade. The young negro was a quick learner, and Jack was getting used to having him around.

Narrator

In British Columbia, a bounty hunter had to bring the criminal in alive. But the United States had no such compunctions. However, the bounty was half if the prisoner died before making it to jail. The bounty hunters didn’t receive payment until later, so when they brought in prisoners, they’d either have to wait, or have the money sent to a bank. The most important thing was that bounty hunters’ names were never, ever recorded, because their anonymity was their protection. This little item is what makes research difficult

Present day, New Mexico

BANG!

Jack drew his gun quickly and shot from the hip before Earwin could react18. But his shot missed the mark completely and hit the adobe wall. The outlaw got his gun out and started aiming at the bounty hunter. To his right, Trinity was kneeling down holding his Colt.

Earwin: ready to act on Count 16. He brings his gun to aim (4), and takes careful aim (10). He will fire on count 30 at Jack

Trinity: kneeling on Count 21, holding your Colt in your hand. To bring it to aim is 4 counts, and then you can fire deliberately (4 counts and +2 Accuracy) OR take careful aim (10 counts and +3 Accuracy). You can also steady aim with your other hand (holding the gun with two hands), for additional 2 counts (and +2 Accuracy). Please confirm

AUnless stated otherwise, house rule is that all shots are fired to the chest.

Earwin: +3 Accuracy, Distance 15´ +2, Aim +3. Aims for the Head. Total 16+8=24. Damage: normally 1d4+1, but since it is a head shot, the roll result is doubled. So 2+1=3 HP damage. DEX-2. Flinching check (vs WIS 9). We add the HP suffered (3) and deduct the gun fight experience (6). Jack doesn´t flinch (duck or loose concentration).

Jack: after the hip shot on count 22, he brings his gun up (4) and takes careful aim (10). So he will fire on Count 36.

Trinity: your shot is fired on Count 35.Count 37 since you steady aim! Aim +3, steady +2, Distance 20´ +2, Accuracy 0. Total modifier +7. Please roll 1d20 and also 1d6+1 damage.

Trinity got up from kneeling and ran to Dyer. The outlaw had got up to a sitting position, and was looking around to see his gun. When he saw it to his right, he put his hand on it, and at that precise moment he heard Trinity shout “Freeze!”. He looked at the black bounty hunter, still holding his hand on top of the gun on the ground49.

In the mean time, Jack had a quick look through the window to the left of the door to see if there was someone else inside, but couldn't see anyone.

Then suddenly they all heard a “clic”…

[SG] Jim Copeland*

Jim Copeland had been hiding in the pit, and when the shooting started he carefully got up the ladder. He was still half way up the ladder, only visible waist up. On his hands he had a Winchester .38 carbine rifle, and he was pointing at Jack and had just cocked.

-You´ll rot in hell, you summabitch!

Notas de juego

...50,...

Copeland: he started climbing up the ladder on count 18, and he was up on count 38. Then he brought his rifle to aim, resting it on the ground (4) and is now aiming at Jack ready to fire.

You both see him on count 50. Jack is to the left of Copeland (near the window)

You can try to kick the gun away. You would roll 1d10 initiative.

Or you can shoot (specify if you aim deliberately and target and roll 1d20 and damage) . Aiming and shooting takes longer than kicking the gun
