Testing :) I´ve assigned you a "NEW PLAYER"-character for now. You should be able to post in "Off Topic". I´ll give you more permissions once we´ve decided the character etc.

Sounds like Rob and I had similar first acts, mano a mano with the boss :) My “branch” of the story has been great too. I'm gonna miss the cattle drive, I was getting used to the cowboy lifestyle. But it was also cool to cross paths with the fellow gunmen at Bannock. Seems we had too much fun though. I'm eager to know who really won our little contest... :)

As for the movie, I'm very intrigued about it, especially about how the original Hurd is like. But so far I've managed to resist the temptation and I intend to keep it that way ;)

Yeah, when Malken took over Hurd, he was with Sinta and Crowe but they were temporary NPC´d. If we look at the whole story arch so far, all the previous scenes with Hurd there was also some interaction between other 3 player characters, and then with another 2 in Bannock. But Malken is right about the fact that most of his time with Hurd has been one on one. On the other hand, individual scenes are great for narrative and character building.

I agree the cattle drive was really cool, and the system makes for an interesting and eventful minigame. I tried to gather some info regarding true cattle drives and put as much of it to the scene as possible.

In case anyone is wondering, the “three act” thing is simply to have a guideline for the plot, and also for different objectives. For instance, in the first act I wanted to achieve the following:

-To get to know each character and their history and backround
-To establish relations with other PCs
-To develop a back story
-To present the Code of the West
-To introduce the system and mechanics: Shooting and count up (combat mechanics), Skill checks and advancement, Profession paths and personal goals (and BPs)
- Effects of Alcohol
- Poker
- Cattle Drive
- Introduce San Acoma and Sabbath
- Goods&Services

When Act 1 started, there were basically 4 outlaws and 4 cowboys. Most of the characters were not in Sabbath, and those who were shortly left for the cattle drive. In Act2, all the characters will be in Sabbath. And most have a new professional path ahead, or they are about to start. This was another aspect I wanted to explore, and it is also a key element of the Aces&Eights system. Act I was all about getting to know the characters, the system, the style, the background. Act II will be about a specific situation and the choices you have to make. But it makes so much more sense to be faced with a dillema if you know the character and the other characters.

OK, I quit ranting and get on with preparing ACT II. Thanks again for the feedback, and I´m really looking forward to the new scenes.

I´ve opened this scene with the Music so you can access the "soundtrack", and also for those who play using a mobile phone. Each scene has a song at the start but you can´t play it from a mobile device.

Excellent post for the "End of Act I"-scene, good read and gives more depth to the character.

Hi, how is it going? Ready for a short catch-up scene? To get Crowe back into the story.

Did I understand correct, that you were going to post something in the "End of Act I"? No rush just wanted to check

Yeah I was thinking about it, like some kind of summary of what's Meyer been into, but I haven't written anything yet. And like anybody else has done it... I wasn't sure. Should I?

Yeah, that would be cool :) Two other players have done it already, but the story is posted for director only (it´s sort of private info about what you´ve been up to and how you feel about things).

Thanks, I wanted to develop a bit on Hurd's personal issues and feelings without overdoing it too much (I don't want the drama to take over, this is a western! :D). This interlude was a good chance for a scene like that. Glad you liked it.

Phew! Three new scenes straight from the oven! :) Act II is now under way, let´s see how the story unfolds.

Also, we´re expecting a new player shortly, and the return of another one. It´s getting busy in Sabbath

Nice interlude for the End of Act I, it gives some insight to Mayer´s situation at that point.

One thing: in the current scene, you confirmed you know Dekker and Choctaw. You have also met Marc Corman (he was the drunk cowboy with Brimley). Just checking you remembered that, it´s not that you are friends or anything, but you know who he is.

I´ve been "opening" some of the Tutorials and Poker and Shooting for a new player who will be joining for a small(er) part in Act II, don´t be scared if you see a few dozens new post alerts on those scenes :)

I think Trinity is more the investigating type, with good social skills etc. This story doesn´t have much investigation, but at least we get an idea of how the character could work (asking questions, looking for clues, visiting places).

(...) he added inviting Mayer to leave his office.

I'm a bit lost, does that mean he wants me to go with him, or just go somewhere else 'cause he's leaving and doesn't want me to be in his office while he's gone?

I meant the later. He is leaving and wants you to go out so he can lock the door.

Btw, is Sinta a real player? It seems like he/she hasn't read the messages (at least in the offtopic, and also in the Act II scene) since 04/23.

Just curious.

Yes, Sinta in theory is still played by sergut. I sent a private message a few weeks ago, and the player explained the situation and that he would restart posting shortly but at,a low pace. But so far nothing. Sergut has been a very constant player so I wait. In the mean time, Sinta is in jail which seemed like a good solution until the player returns.
