That situation had become a slaughter. And there were only two ways to finish, standing, or lying down. Jack had decided to survive, but the blood, so close, got him quite nervous...

Also, the bonus is wrong, it's a lot lower, I think.

Small mistake from my part. The process is DRAW > AIM > FIRE. Cocking and firing is +3 counts (after aiming). Choctaw had actually cocked his weapon while it was in the holster, so it is only +1 for him (that action probably provoked this massacre hehehe). This does not affect the shootout in any way as everyone´s shots get delayed by +3. But in any case, I´ve edited the post.

Shots are flying in the air. Jack blasts away trying to hit Tom before he gets to the horses and misses. The apprentice gets to the horses, and Mayer also fires at him trying to hit his head, but aims too high.

In the middle, Ed Stein looks calmly at Winford and shoots... And nothing happens! The cartridge must´ve been faulty. Cursing his bad luck, he tries to cock and fire again as quickly as possible, only to realize that the gun is now jammed.

Winford fires his rifle and the bullet flies close to Ed´s left leg.

Choctaw: you have hit Johny. You can cock and fire again, normally this is +5 counts but if you keep fanfiring it´s +3 counts with the speed bonus. If you aim at someone else, it´s 4-2=2 counts to change target (this is if you keep fanfiring like crazy).

Johny fell down and is laying prone for now.

Jack: cocks and fires at Tom (chest), misses. Cock and fire a 2nd shot at the same target (5 counts)?

Mayer: Aims carefully (+3 Accuracy), shoots at Tom at Count 37 (aiming for the head), +3 counts cock and fire so he fires on Count 40. Tom is already behind the horse. Direction: Spade (3), the shot flies way above Tom´s head.

Tom: he has got himself behind a horse on Count 28, and draws a Derringer he had hidden somewhere (5+1d4=7), and then brings it to aim (+4) at Jack, he wants to fire deliberately (+4) and cock and fire (+3). So Count 46 the shot would go off depending on what happens with Mayer.

Ed: shoots at Winford on Count 32 (chest), + 3 count for cock and fire, so he fires at count 35. He has very good accuracy (6) and +2 for firing deliberately, but he rolls "1". A mishap! A failed cartridge. He wants to cock and fire (+5) again, but before that, Winford gets a shot at close range...And then Ed realizes that his Colt Bisley is jammed!

Winford: he is pointing at Ed with the rifle and steady aim going for the chest, the shot goes off at count 36 depending on Ed´s result. He has -1 Accuracy, but his Sharp Carbine and less than 30 feet range is +3, so total 13+2=15. The bullet does not hit Ed, but as it is quite close, it forces a willpower check, but Ed´s been in many gunfights and he is not scared easily [this check was not really necessary]

Only half a second after his first shot, Choctaw fires a bullet towards Winford, but misses. At that instance, Johny starts getting up from the ground, grabbing the gun he had dropped and slowly kneeling.

Ed realizes that he has no weapon, and runs towards Johny maybe hoping to get the one the boy had dropped. Luckily for him, the old Mormon had a one shot rifle, and now needs to get a pistol out from his jacket. Jack and Mayer are firing at Tom, who has drawn a Derringer.

Aim (4 Counts), and then decide if you wish to Steady Aim with your left hand (2 Counts and +2 Accuracy).  Instead, you can also decide to Fire Deliberately (4 Counts and +2 Accuracy), and after 4 Counts you can fire or decide to continue 6 more counts to Take Careful Aim (10 Counts and +3 Accuracy).

One way or the other, when you are ready to fire it´s  Cock+Fire it´s +3 Counts as you have already pointed the gun.

It was all happening incredibly fast. Choctaw brought his gun to bear to carefully fire at Winford, who is about to shoot at Ed. The outlaw is running and dodging without a weapon to get to Johny, who was laying prone but has managed to get up. He is a bit dizzy and holding his stomach with his left hand, but has a gun on his right. He sees the look on Ed´s face and realizes he is in danger.

On the other side, Tom is point his Derringer at Jack who has just missed his second shot. And Mayer is also trying to get a good view of Tom to bring him down.

Notas de juego

COUNT UP: (...) 41, 42Johny up,43,44,45Mayer shot#2?,46Tom Shot #1-Choctaw shot #3

Before more shooting, let´s round up the situation:

Choctaw: stops fanfiring and brings gun up to aim (+4) and starts to take careful aim (+10) at Winford to shoot (+3) on Count 46 with +3 Accuracy. Please roll 1d20, 1d4+1d12 for direction and damage.

Jack: shot #2 on Count 33, accuracy +0. A miss. You want to aim better? Tom is pointing at you with his small Derringer

Mayer: his shot was fired on Count 40, he cocks and fires again +5 counts, shot #2 on Count 45 (unless you want to aim for extra accuracy?). Please confirm and roll 1d20.

Tom: he will fire his Derringer on Count 46 at Jack

Johny: he was getting up on count 42, but the wound (flinching) delayed his action by +5 counts, so he gets up with the gun on count 47. He sees Ed running towards him with a murderous look in his eyes... He aims +4 and wants to fire as quickly as possible (+3), so the shot is fired on count 54.

Winford: fires deliberately at Ed, Count 55, who is dodging as he reaches Johny

Ed: shot at 35, weapon jammed, runs dodging (4 feet/3 count), then sprints (9 feet/5 count), in 22 counts he gets to Johny (57)

Bullets are flying through the air... Mayer and Choctaw both miss, and Jack also misses Tom with his rifle. Tom was pointing at Jack, but realizes it´s an impossible shot with his tiny Derringer, so he comes out of his hiding place between the horses and moves towards Mayer.

Winford misses Ed who was running and dodging to get to Johny, and he grabs the wounded youngster´s arm and they start wrestling. Johny´s gun is loaded still.

Mayer: he fired on Count 40, he cocks and fires again (5) and his 2nd shot is fired on Count 45. Miss (roll = 3)

Choctaw: shoots at Winford on Count 46 after taking careful aim.
Modifiers: (+3 Accuracy, -2 experience, 2nd shot same target +1, 2nd shot < 2 seconds -1, range +2) => +3
Roll 9+3=12 (miss), spades => too high

Jack: shot #2 was fired on Count 33. He aims carefully (10) and fires (10) at Tom on Count 53
Modifiers: +3 Accuracy, 2nd shot same target +1, range +0 => +4
Roll 6+4=10 (miss)

Winford: fires deliberately at Ed, Count 55 aiming for the head.
Modifiers: accuracy -1, fires deliberately (+2), range less than 15 feet +2, -6 because Ed was running AND dodging = -3
Rolls 7 and misses.

Ed: running and dodging he gets to Johny on count 57, just as the youngster is about to shoot. He tries to grab his
shooting arm (+8 Accuracy) and succeeds and they start brawling.
NOTE: Close quarter combat (fistfighting, wrestling) has a specific set of rules, but quite similar to shooting. A +8 accuracy modifier applies, and you can hit/grab/twist/push... and then there are some strength contests to see who gets the upper hand. I will make a note to post more info in tutorial at some point.

Johny: he gets up with the gun on count 47. Ed is running towards him, he should have fired on Count 54 but due to the injuries suffered he has a speed penalty of 3 counts and accuracy penalty of -2, so the shot would go off on Count 57. Also as his arm is grabbed he has difficulty pointing the gun, so they keep wrestling with a loaded gun between them
Ignore the Johny shot roll.

Tom: he was going to fire his Derringer on Count 46 at Jack, but realizes it´s way out of reach. Instead, he changes to aim at Mayer (4) and moves forward (10) and starts to take careful aim (10), Count 70 would be when he fires.

EVERYONE:
Remember that you can aim for any part of the body. If you do not specify, I will place the shot clock with the center on the chest.

Ed&Johny: Brawling with Johny from count 58. He tries to wrestle (he wants to get the gun). He succesfully grabs the arm (20!+penetration) and then tries to get the gun from the youngster. Ed can choose to make the contest with his Dexterity or Strength, and chooses DEX. Both roll 1d20, and Ed rolls another 20. So he gets hold of the gun. 8 counts wrestling, 4 to bring to aim, and 3 to cock and fire. Ed shoots on Count 73.

Mayer: His 2nd shot is fired on Count 45. Then he aims for the chest (at Tom), taking careful aim (10+5). 3rd Shot fired on Count 60.
Modifiers: +3 aim, +3 for 3rd shot same target, -1 for 2nd shot within 2 seconds, +2 range (Tom is getting closer) => +7
Please roll 1d20.

Choctaw: shot at Winford on Count 46. Suggestion: you could shoot again (#4) after taking careful aim (+15 counts), but also move a few steps closer (5
counts) so you would not get the -1 for 2nd shot within two seconds, you would get +2 for 3rd shot at the same target AND +3 for range!! So you would
fire on Count 66 with these modifiers:
Modifiers: (+3 Accuracy, -2 experience, 3rd shot same target +2, range +3) => +6
Please confirm and roll 1d20.

Jack: Shot #3 at Tom was fired on Count 53. He takes careful aim again and fires (15 counts). This would be on Count 68 the earliest.
Option: hold 5 counts more to fire on Count 73 without the -1 for firing twice in less than 2 seconds.
Modifiers: Accuracy +6, Range +0, 3rd shot same target +2 and -1/+0 depending on the "less than 2 second" thing => so +7 if fired on Count 68, +8 if fired on Count 73.
Please confirm and roll 1d20

Winford: Count 55 fired deliberately at Ed. He tries to take careful aima again (+15 Counts) waiting to see what happens with brawl between his son and Ed.

Tom: moves closer (10), and on Count 80 he would fire his Derrringer

Bang, bang, bang, Jack kept shooting and shooting. He would not stop until his objective would be lying dead on the ground, but luck was not accompanying him. Perhaps his nerves were affecting his aim. That was killing in cold blood, not necessity for survival or because someone ordered it. Still, he had to do it. Finally his aim was good enough, but just a bit, just enough for a bruise... Maybe next shoot would be better?
