Ok I'll change it shortly. I think Henry Fonda represents Mayer nicely, there is a lot of depth in his expression. And when required, he was a true badass (Frank in Once Upon A Time in the West)

Average reputation (21-70) are mostly ordinary citizens who  make an honest living.  For the professional path (farmer), you need to hire employees in the future, or maybe speak to Vernon, he can count as an employee if you make a formal agreement, you help him with the cattle and he can help you, but it should be paid work. Then you would get the extra BP for improving your Agriculture skill also.

Farmer: Plant second type of crop

Farmer: Improve 49% Agriculture

Maybe Glean Information is the best idea right now?

Yeah, it makes sense. Glean Information it is, you got 60% ability which is actually quite good. Skill description:

A character using this skill can listen to others talking and home in on secretive information. He can do this by talking directly to the person he would like to get information from, or he can listen to conversations being held by other people. He is able to pick up clues that may help him. A skill check needs to be made whenever the character wishes to find out some specific secrets or rumors

Since this skill depends on a network of informants and contacts, the character suffers a disadvantage when in an area other than his own territory.

Finally, any time a character needs to make a Glean Information skill check, he must make a small investment of money for drinks, bribes, and so forth, or he suffers an additional 15% penalty. A typical efforts lasts 1d4 hours and costs 1d10 dollars.

The skill is used to cause others to back down in a contest of wills. For instance, to make others afraid to fight you or to help in an interrogation.

I just closed the previous scene "Vigilante Justice", there is 1 BP you earned there but not much you can do with just 1 BP

My recommendation: Oration is a good option, 4 BP and you get the two first purchases and a hefty Ability bonus. Also Observation would be good at some point I guess. Graceful Entrance/Exit is actually useful, it gives a huge bonus on social skills when you make an entrance into a saloon for instance.

I think I'm going to go for Oration. For me it makes sense, after the last speeches from Mayer, I guess he learnt/improved something :)
